Update Release Regarding Domestic Assault Incident From December 20, 2010

On December 20, 2010, officers of the Ocean City Police Department responded to the ocean block of 82nd Street, in reference to a domestic dispute in progress. When officers arrived at the scene they observed a suspect with a knife actively assaulting a female inside a residence. OCPD Corporal Rick Wawrzeniak shot the suspect after he failed to comply with police requests to drop the knife.

Per departmental policy, CPL Wawrzeniak has been placed on administrative leave pending a investigative review. CPL Wawrzeniak is an 11-year veteran of the OCPD.

The Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and Worcester County Bureau of Investigation continue to investigate the case.

Wawa is a good cop. I am positive that it will be found he did everything by the book. I wish him a Merry Christmas and I hope he gets back to work real soon.

Been there, done that, Don't ever second guess yourself, you went home and he went to the hospital, good job!
