Leslie Johnson Needs To Resign

ANNAPOLIS Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott issued the following statement today regarding Leslie Johnson’s failure to resign one week after being arrested for federal corruption charges:
“In order to restore confidence in the Prince Georges County Government Leslie Johnson must resign immediately. Just one week after being caught with more money in her undergarments than most Marylanders make in a year, her failure to resign continues to plague a county that has endured enough scandal this year. It’s time to clean up our state and local governments, with record unemployment burdening our residents, our politicians need to focus on getting Maryland back to work, not needless distractions from politicians who break the law. Leslie Johnson must go.”

It is no longer clear when it is appropriate for a public official to resign because of corruption. Shoud it be when they are acused of corruption and know themselves to be guilty? Or should it be once the evidence is presented publicly and it cannot be denied? Or should it be once the official is convicted in a court of law and publicly humiliated?

Keep in mind the people who got the public official elected (in all cases, not just this one) have something due to them. The public official has not yet delivered for the "favor" of getting them elected. The person still owes the debt - the core of the corruption itself.

In my opinion, most (if not all) public officials are indebted to the "behind the scenes" money people who control their elections and their media coverage. We the people merely choose between 2 options of corrupt and morally bankrupt candidates who have been chosen by the elites with the money. Usually corporations (as opposed to individuals) the power behind the scenes will not let the public official off the hook very easily. They have "invested" a lot of money, time and energy into the "candidate" and may hold them in a precarious position. I believe most BIG NAME politicians like Barry Soetoro, Bill Clinton, Georgie Dubya Bush, are totally morally corrupt and bankrupt individuals and therefore are "chosen" for high public office because they can be easily controlled later.

The same or similar may be the case with Leslie Johnson. Who knows her debts to the "monied people" or the baggage being covered up or hidden by her "handlers".

For those of you who do not realize how our political machine works - wake up. Learn the truth for cryin' out loud! It is much worse than you think.

931-The Johnsons have been under federal investigation for 5 years, and have been under wiretap surveillance since Jan. 2010.

Although I do agree with the vast majority of your points.
