Gates Rushes Delivery Of 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' Report

Defense Secretary Robert Gates is instructing his staff to accelerate by one day the public release of a yearlong study into the implications of repealing the ban on openly gay people serving in the military.

That study, initially due Dec. 1, will now be ready for release on Nov. 30 to allow the congressional defense committees to hold hearings on the report as soon as possible.

Supporters of repealing the Clinton-era law, known as "Don't ask, don't tell," are eying the weeks after Thanksgiving recess as the last opportunity to see the ban scrapped. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has committed to bringing up the 2011 defense authorization bill, which contains a repeal provision, for a vote in December. The House already approved its version of the massive defense policy bill, which contains a repeal provision.

Sen. Carl Levin (D-Mich.), who leads the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he first wants to hold hearings on the Pentagon's yearlong study.

Gates now has compressed an already "aggressive" timeline for the report delivery in order "to support Congress' wish to consider repeal before they adjourn," Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell said in a statement on Sunday.

This story like the fence between Israel and Egypt is repetative MEDIA NOISE used to distract small brains from our countries real problem. A stagnant economy hovering close to depression. Our current political leadership claims to be working on it, but in reality they don't have a clue, because your governments present direction defies common sense. What we really need in government are balanced budgets, a pro business stance and stimulation of, reduction and repeal of to much taxation, a rapid reduction of more government and a restart to our old and tried, "CLOSED DOOR TO IMPORTS" policy to protect our American workers and the businesses that employ them. Any other country, person, business or message that is NOT in favor of an "Only Americas Comes First" policy, needs to be ignored completely. Because, if your not working for the goals that makes American stronger, then we know your our enemy and against us. We have No political leadership at all today and stories like these are manufactured to distract you.

They don't belong and only weaken the moral and infidelity of our armed forces. It's bad enough you have infiltrated our school under the guise of equal rights but now it's the military. It's all about tearing down this country not building it up. Homosexuality is a sickness ...get treatment !
