INCIDENT: Attempted Murder DATE: 10/3/10 LOCATION: 700 Block of Olivia Street, Salisbury, Maryland. NARRATIVE: On 10/3/10 at approximately 0128 hours Deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office and Detectives from the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation (WBI) responded to the 700 Block of Olivia Street for a report of shooting victim. The initial investigation showed that the victim was walking on Olivia Street when a vehicle approached him and fired multiple gun shots, one of which struck the victim in the upper thigh area. The victim was transported to PRMC where he was treated and released. Officers from the Fruitland Police Department located the suspect vehicle. Three suspects were in the vehicle and are currently being charged. The investigation continues. Salisbury is a special kind of place. Criminals can thrive, college students will get in trouble. Let's be real, these cowards comb through college neighborhoods because they know they pay fines. It's scary to go after people with guns, its not like they took an oath to protect and...wait what?
The good news is that these drive by shooters are very poor shots. Lock them up and throw away the key.
The county is quickly becoming the city. More bodies on the street would help. Need a regional violent crime unit. It is time to take the gloves off.

10:27, if you have ever been to Olivia street, it would not take a rocket scientist to know that you wouldn't want to walk around there at 1:30 am. Let alone 1:30 PM. It is not the cops fault, it is a breeding problem. Why is it anybody's fault except for their own? Do you really think that somehow there wasn't drugs involved and that this guy was just walking home from work or something? I say let them just kill eachother off. If they want to be gangsters, let them be dead gangsters. Hats off to Fruitland Police department for catching up with the thugs. Book'em Danno!!! If any of you have an idea of how anyone is supposed to stop this behavior, by all means speak up.
gee look at the names how many in this case do you think are white... not playing the race card but all of these shootings lately are black on black crimes ... mebbe the police should start in the black neighborhoods and try to teach them that it is wrong to do this ....apparently the young black kids are not taught this when they are you and assume that it is ok to do these crimes ...

11:11, if you haven't been watching, this involved WBI, which has multiple police agencies in it. This one Fruitland was involved too. Last one, state police were involved, along with county and city. Be nice to get Delaware and Virginia involved, but so far, lots of agencies involved. That's why we're seeing arrest. SPD can't do it all, especially with Ireton and Smith furloughing them.
That reminds me. Anyone see the pompous editorial of the Daily Times? They are starting a "throw 'em all out" campaign. Anyone else smell an election push by the Daily Times?

Hold the RIGHT people accoutable, Daily Slime. If we'd had more INTELLIGENT people on that council like Cohen we wouldn't be in this mess! (She should have been the president, not Smith, and much as we like Debbie Campbell, Cohen would have been the middle ground for the "sides".)
The Daily Slime is the most divisive influence we have in Salisbury. All they ever write about are infights instead of the important things.

It's called consolidation! Consolidate the Salisbury Police Department with the Wicomico County Sheriffs Office and we will see a more responsive police department.
Ireton is already getting proactive on this. He is telling people to tell the candidates no consolidation on the upcoming city council election.
Why isn't isn't the Salisbury Police Department part of the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation?
Time for Maryland to follow suit with the states who have the right to carry. But no one wants to face the true cold FACTS that Florida cut the crime rate by 89% by making it legal for law abiding citizens to carry.
City/county police agencies should have been combined years ago, but definitely now - there should be no question about it.
None of them are even Maryland residents...as if Salisbury didnt have enough criminals.And its sad because they are so young and they have already crapped their life away.

Sounds like gang initiation. Three want to be thugs told to drive to a nearby out of state town, shoot anyone they find walking down the street, and shooting makes the news as proof of their actions. Only problem for those three is to complete their initiation is they were not suppose to get caught.
6:10, seriously? This Greene guy is no angel. Look it up. I am sure that he wasn't just some random person picked between Virginia and here. They could have easily found someone closer. These crimes are not random. They are because of drugs (or lack of), gangs, etc. A program is not a solution. There are tons of programs. The crime rate of a city is directly related to the population of African Americans. That is a FACT. Until people can admit that, instead of worried about being politically incorrect, you are never going to solve the problem. When you can admit what the problem is, then maybe you can begin addressing it. How about we stop giving incentives for children out of wedlock, or start doing urine analysis in order to receive welfare. That would be a start to cut down on the problem. Why should society give someone money because they want to have 4 kids by 4 different men, which arent around, and know that the more kids they have, the bigger the check will be. That is a recipe for the cycle to continue. Lets practice tough love. You pay for your own decisions, and not get rewarded for them. If you need help, fine, but you are not going to be smokin' dope while you are getting help. (that means you have money). You aren't going to buy crabs with welfare money, or trade food stamps for cash. Until the government grows a set and stops worrying about losing a vote, we will always have this problem.
There is a 4 man gang/gun unit based out of Msp Salisbury. They have been making a number of arrests and gun seizures in and around Salisbury for months but really needs to be expanded to include city and county officers.

10:43. If you left it up tp the cops they would be out chasing the bad guys. Think about this; who calls in and complains, the normal citizen that hears a college party, the citizen who can't park in front of their house, the citizen who has to pick up beer cans from their front yard, the citizen who calls to report that a college party was next door and now all their law furniture is gone or broken. So if you are a council person or the chief who gets all these calls, you are going to do something about it. Now do you think the drug dealer who just got shot at or ripped off is going to call the police. That is a big fat piece of crack NO. They do not want the attention. So learn the life lesson 1, the noisey wheel gets the attention. This area has been under protected for years, this area will not pay for more cops to get it cleaned up. So the aggressive cops get burned out doing it all, and then getting harped on because calls came in their sector complaining about college parties. Lesson 2, having a collge party, give your neighbors your phone number to call you first, clean up after yourself & them, watch out for your neighbors. They then will watch out for you. Respect equals respect. Trust me the cops are not scared here, they get a lot of guns and drug dealers off the streets, you just dont hear about that, then this place would not sound like an All american city.

The high crime rate is becoming a moral problem. Too many children being born to mothers and fathers with no moral values or goals to better themselves.
And why should they even attempt to better themselves when they are issued renters assistance, food from food pantries, Medicaid and other forms of welfare?
