STATEMENT OF DELEGATE JIM MATHIAS REGARDING WORCESTER COUNTY L.C.B.

IF THE INFORMATION THAT HAS BEEN PRESENTED IN RECENT DAYS REGARDING THE WORCESTER COUNTY L.C.B. IS PROVEN TO BE TRUE, IT DEMONSTRATES THE L.C.B. SYSTEM IN WORCESTER COUNTY HAS BECOME OBSOLETE AND OUTLIVED ITS USEFULNESS.

AS YOUR SENATOR, I WILL INTRODUCE LEGISLATION TO ABOLISH THIS SYSTEM, PROVIDED THE RESTARUANT AND BAR INDUSTRY PRESENTS AN ACCEPTABLE BUSINESS PLAN REPLACING THE VITAL REVENUES TO THE CITIZENS AND GOVERNMENTS OF WORCESTER COUNTY.

Way to try to sound like a good guy then slip a little "if" in the last sentence. He will abolish the system but still expect the bars and restaurants to supplement the hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue for the county in other ways. So, in the end, the money businesses save buying directly from the wholesaler will be lost to the county government anyway, so nothing will be improved.

Okay...so a system which is broken and possibly some wrong doings,is allowed to stay and operate in the county as long as the money is being generated to the government!

Putting the burden of a "business plan" on the private industry is
wrong. Government got us into this mess and government should deal with it now..not private industry.
