On 5/29/10, at 11:00 pm, a sobriety checkpoint was conducted through a cooperative effort between the Maryland State Police (Barrack E), the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Natural Resources
The “Checkpoint Strikeforce” sobriety checkpoint was conducted on S/B Rt. 12 at Wildlife Ln, Wicomico County, MD. The operation began on May 29, 2010 at 11:00PM to May 30, 2010 at 1:00AM. During the operation 129 vehicles were checked. 0 were arrested for DUI. The checkpoint was manned by 8 Maryland State Troopers as well as 4 Wicomico County Sheriff Deputies and 1 Department of Natural Resources Police Officer. Additionally, a saturation patrol utilizing 6 Maryland State Troopers as well as 2 WICO Deputies and 1 Dept. Of Natural Resources Officer was conducted from 1:00AM to 3:00AM. This effort resulted in 3 DUI arrests. There were a total number of 3 DUI arrests for the entire operation.

Here's the thing - if you have nothing to hide, who cares if you get stopped at a checkpoint? Seems to me like the only people who get their panties in a bunch over the police are those who have something to hide.

Lot of manpower and money involved here in order to get 3 DUI's. Any one officer could just wait outside any bar at closing time and get more arrests than what this produced.
No they're not, sober drivers have more accidents ! All they're after is your money to pay police salaries .
These checkpoint are illegal searched. We tolerate them in the name of public safety. Just remember when the gun cops come to your door and perform searchrs of jour home- just to make your county safe- and confiscate everything they find offensive, that it started with bs like this. No 9:17, they are not making the county safe. They should be cracking down on crime just outside of city limits instead of harrassing innocent drivers.
If MSP were serious about checkpoints,how come weve never seen one set up on RT 413 in Crisfield when they have the annual clambake?Lots of drunk driving but then again they ARE important people after all.
It only takes one drunk driver to wipe out a family in a vehicle!
You are correct 4:51, we would not want to arrest any of those important politicians, judges, lawyers, etc.
