ANNAPOLIS, MD (February 25, 2010) – Governor O’Malley today issued the following statement upon learning of the death of M. Gordon “Reds” Wolman, Professor Emeritus at Johns Hopkins University:
“The State of Maryland has lost a great citizen, friend, and conservationist with the passing of distinguished scholar Reds Wolman.
“With unparalleled personal and professional commitment to our natural resources and our environment, Reds pioneered actions on geologic and water quality issues including sediment, shore erosion control, oyster restoration and groundwater. He was also a tireless advocate for the State programs and employees who manage these vital resources.
“His work and his spirit will continue to guide us as we work to create a sustainable future for Maryland.”
