The school system will make up a school day missed due to weather (Feb. 3) on Monday, March 1, which was scheduled as a professional day. March 1 will now be a half-day for students, with students dismissed two hours early, and a half-day testing preparation in-service for teachers.
The Board affirmed at its meeting on Feb. 16 that earlier closings due to inclement weather and poor road conditions on Dec. 21 and 22, Jan. 8, and Feb. 1 and 2 will be made up on the five days from Monday, June 14 through Friday, June 18, in accordance with the approved school calendar for 2009-2010. (June 16, 17 and 18 will be half-days.)
Superintendent of Schools Dr. John Fredericksen and other local superintendents met last Friday with State Superintendent Dr. Nancy Grasmick to discuss recent weather closings, which have affected the entire state. A state announcement is anticipated today. Dr. Fredericksen will discuss with the Board how to address the remaining missed days following that announcement.
The calendar for this school year is still subject to change by weather closings and other factors.

They could have gotten a half a day in today.
But not if it's cold and cloudy again, like today, then they will be closed again. It's ridiculous.

Nothing on the roads and they close school....are you kidding me? Unreal!
We certainly can't allow the children to have too much free time. The mind control and brainwashing routines will begin to lose affect.
No notice about this was given to students, such as a letter to parents. Maybe they were sending it today or tomorrow, but it's too cloudy out so no school. Guess they really don't want students to show up Monday and get in the way of test planning.
If they can have a half day professional day on March 1, why can't they have a half day every year?
