Join Pemberton Park this December For An Exciting Line-Up Of Programs

(Salisbury, MD) Join Pemberton Historical Park this December for some exciting, brand new programs! On Friday, December 11 at 7:00PM, join a Park Naturalist for an Owl Prowl. Pemberton is home to several species of owls, including Great Horned Owls, Barred Owls and tiny Eastern Screech Owls. Take a hike through Pemberton forest to discover these amazing night creatures and get answers to questions like, “do owls have ears?” and “what do owls eat?” Learn some great owling techniques to use in your backyard too! This program is open to children ages 6-12 and is $4/person; $12 for a family of four; Free/Friends of Pemberton Historical Park.

Come back on Saturday morning, December 12 for Pemberton Historical Park’s 1st Annual Winter Photo Contest. Enjoy a wonderful weekend of shooting one of the Eastern Shore’s most beautiful places. The fun begins Saturday morning with registration and shooting beginning at 10:00AM. Shoot your photos of Pemberton Park and come back Sunday evening, December 13 at 7:00PM to submit your photos in each category and enjoy dinner, dessert and beverages provided by Common Grounds Fair Trade Coffee House. The award ceremony will follow with prizes awarded in each category. Winning photos will also be displayed in the Education Center. Amateurs only please! The entry fee is $25 for adults; $5 for children ages 5-12. All proceeds will benefit Pemberton Historical Park’s Environmental Education Programs. On Wednesday, December 16, Pemberton Historical Park and the Pemberton Hall Foundation will kick off its brand new lecture series, The 3rd Wednesday Lectures. This program will celebrate all that is the Eastern Shore with lectures featuring local experts on history, science, environmental studies, art and culture. December’s lecture features Jim Rapp, director of DLITE (Delmarva Low Impact Tourism Experiences) as he presents on low impact tourism and birding experiences on the lower shore. Each month’s lecture begins at 7:30PM in the Education Center where light refreshments will be served. This program is $4/person; Free/Friends of Pemberton Historical Park and Friends of the Pemberton Hall Foundation.

Pemberton Historical Park is thrilled to introduce another brand new program! On Friday, December 18, from 7:00PM-8:30PM Pemberton will be holding its first Star Gazers program. If you enjoy watching the night sky, this is the program for you! Join local experts as we explore a new, fascinating topic each month until April. December’s topic: The Planets. Spend the evening learning about these heavenly bodies and observe Jupiter and Mars in action! Fun activities, crafts, prizes and plenty of hot chocolate are included. If you have a telescope or binoculars, bring them along. Don’t forget a lawn chair and dress warmly! Please pre-register. This program is $4/person; $12 family of four; Free/Friends of Pemberton Historical Park.

Are the holidays leaving you feeling stressed? Then take your family along on a Holiday Hike on Saturday, December 19 at 10:00AM. Join a Park Naturalist on a brisk hike through Pemberton Historical Park’s Nature Trails and learn some ways to “chill out” this holiday season. End your hike with some warm refreshments and conversation in our cozy Education Center.
