Star Wars In The Park

Last night the Bar Association put off a unique show featuring the original movie, Star Wars. The turn out was actually fantastic. It was certainly cold out last night but everyone, (smart enough) dressed up warm enough to stick around. Hot Chocolate was served and the picture quality IMO was equal to going to the Theater. If you're throwing off a part for your kids, call Home Media One and let them do all the work while providing a good clean atmosphere for your children. They can be reached at, 302-423-2951.

Joe, the Bar Association was a sponsor, and kudos to them for it. But the City Park Committee pulled it together, including the hot chocolate. I hear they are going to do a series of these. This was just the pilot. I couldn't go, but a friend did and was very pleased and heard the same from others there.

What a good thing for the community.

It was a wonderful event. Cold but wonderful. My son loves anything to do with star wars, so we attended. I hope they continue to have these showings (in warmer weather please) I will attend and we will be giving donations when we do. (they said the hot chocolate cost was a donation.....good Idea !!! I gave more because it was.
thanks to the powers to be for putting it on.

Don't make something wonderful a negative , it was free !!! totally free, so it would be like watching a movie at your friends house. But if it bothers you that much ....call the bar association and find out.
Don't destroy a great idea.

I believe you can show the film anywhere as long as you aren't charging an admission fee!

Rights for showing these things are typically handled through the media companies as part of their fees. Whether it's free admission or not has nothing to do with it, although some companies cut schools a break.

Hence the generosity of sponsors so the city can be a conduit for the community activity. The City Park Committee obviously asked -- and received.

Hopefully others will be as generous as the local Bar Association. If I remember correctly from a project I once did, these things cost between $500 and $1000, depending on the company you use and the studio the movie is from. I hear Pepsi donated drinks, but the free hot chocolate was from a committee member.

THIS is the kind of project the city can be proud of. We don't hear much about the City Park Committee, but they really deserve a pat on the back for this one.
