I just received word from a reliable source that gasoline will reach more than $3.40 a gallon by Thanksgiving.
That's right, it's going to get far worse than we ever thought. Between City taxes going up, State taxes going up and now gas prices through the roof, how long will Americans stand for it before someone finally blows their top?
Does everyone realize what this is doing to our local economy? The Salisbury Kennel Club is holding their annual Show at the Civic Center and let me tell you, they lost more than 300 entries this year because people from New York and so forth couldn't afford the gas prices to travel all the way here to be in the Show.
That means less Hotel Room rentals. Less sales at local restaurants. Less gas being sold at the pumps and it trickles down from there. I just don't know how many families out there are even surviving?

Because not everyone lives in fucking cultureless, poor Salisbury. Furthermore, many people are not nearly as petty as you are, and don't cry over dropping a few thousand extra dollars over the course of a year.
Well.. no Turkey dinner and Christmas dinner for me, being on fixed income comes very hard. I'm just sorry for the families that have children, they will be the ones hurting the most.
My husband is a trucker and my father is an owner-operator trucker,as is most of my family,so I know firsthand how fuel prices "trickle down".Almost everything we consume is transported by truck, and when fuel costs increase,so does the cost of goods and services. The only good thing about the gas prices is that maybe it will force people to reconsider how "green" a vehicle they are driving and trade in for more economical transportation,or at least attempt to conserve as much fuel as possible. An extra dollar a gallon isnt alot to some people, but take it from me-it really hurts people living on a budget and overall it does affect everyone else.
It is a very good question: What levels do the prices have to reach before a revolt by the people takes effect? How high will we go following the "well, it sucks but we have to pay for it" before we finally say something? $4.00? $5.00? $6.00?
The oil companies and were making billions of dollars when prices were $1.75/gallon. They now can print their own cash, and we pay whatever they tell us to.
It is shaping up to be an interesting sociolgical experiment in American human nature. How much crap do we take before saying something. Based on recnet history, we will all collectively bitch and moan, and then pay whatever they tell us to and never to a thing.
My guess: our breaking point will be somewhere around $7.50/gallon. At that point, if the people actually have it in them, there will be a mass revolt of some nature, and as a result we will be given the "gift" of lower prices, and the new norm will be $4.00. I mean, that is WAY better than $8.00. isn't it?
We will get screwed, others will get rich, and our employees in Washington will do absolutely nothing.
U.S.A.! U.S.A!
A reliable source, what happened did you actually have a conversation with Bill Gordy instead of bashing him?
Maybe these people who think we are in Iraq for oil will get it through their heads that our mission in Iraq has nothing to do with oil.
I was looking to get gas tonight, I saw $3.09 at Cheers, $3.07 at Thirsty's on College Avenue and RT 13.
I continued, as I turned onto College Avenue I got to the Valero on Eastern Shore Drive and filled up at $2.94 a gallon.
I filled up my diesel pick-up today at $3.35 a gallon. I was told $3.40 or more by thanksgiving for regular fuel as well. That would mean diesel would be almost $4.00 by then. Everyone has focused on terrorism as being the issue most likely to bring our country to it's knees. We'll soon realize that our nation depends on oil for virtually everything. Unless we change things around we'll all be standing in soup lines.
Amen, granddad.
The terrorists can do nothing compared to what we can do to ourselves. They scared us one day. We destroy ourselves more and more each passing hour.
If you're a trucker, then really why should anyone care about you? Are you really worth concern?
corporate gas compaines gotta raise their prices to keep up with the taxes lol, its all greed greed greed,
Mayb you should lean how to read before you make a nasty reply-I never said I was a trucker-my spouse and most of my family are...and lets see you try to live without all the shit you are used to if trucks stopped rolling.Who are you to be superior to anybody?Could your dumbass pass a CDL test?Doubt it!
Furthermore, what the f*ck did I ever do to you?Be a man,or woman or whatever you are,and stop posting anonymously like a pussy.I enjoy this blog, but damn if I am gonna keep posting if I have to endure insults from jerkoffs who dont even know me!
blutojthetotmom? What kind of moniker is that? You might as well post anonymously if you're going to use a handle like that!
Joe knows my real name I am sure, because I have sent him email-The rest of you dont need to know....and my online moniker is fitting.
Bluto is my husbands lifelong nickname,J is our last name initial, and Totmom is what I am.
I have been a regular reader/poster on Salisburynews since it was "National Joe-a-graphic" and I have never been personally baited until now and i dont understand why it is happening now
Not baiting you sweetheart. I just find it a bit nervy to call someone out for an anonymous post when you're basically anonymous to everyone else. Just because Mr. Albero know's your name does not lend you any credence to the rest of the viewing public. Would I like to know your name? NO! I could care less. But if you're going to call people out, at least have the stones to put up your REAL name.
Understand?
Yours Respectfully,

You correct me when I'm wrong. I don't have the right to do so when you are?
Totmom is pretty much self explanatory...my husband, unlike so many other men,is willing to work long hours so that I can stay home full-time with our child, who is a tot(toddler)and raise her rather than pay strangers to do it.
Joe A, I pay good money to come here and read this stuff, you get to read my drivel for free, hence your stuff should be grammatical error free!!!!! LOL

You shouldn't waste yout time explaining to some immature little punk what your name is about.
IMO, I wouldn't respond to him unless he starts using a name. Better yet, his real name. It's easy, can you say Doug Church?
LMAO!
I'll give you your money back if you'll tell me what "grammatical" means? LMAO!
Pardon me,but WHO the hell is Doug Church? The name sounds familiar from this blog....and when did you start charging people to come here?I didnt get a bill....

OK. So I was correct. I said a mom of tots. In your case, your the mom of a tot. I understand now, thanks for clearing that up for me. Hey JA, I'm not an immature punk! Just a regular guy who rides the same seat with you on the short bus :>)
Damn! I thought you sounded familiar! I said to myself, sel, that sounds like the guy that rode beside me on the short bus. LMAO!

You better watch out for the Al-Qaida Grammar/Spelling police, they are part of this regime's Vice and Virtue commission.
It is so very funny that those that are doing the correcting are in violation their own code of spelling and grammar in the post they are commenting on ROFLMFAO
Totmom, don't worry about them passing the CDL test, the written part is a piece of cake, the driving part is a bit tougher but not much. Its the part where you are gone from home so long you have to carry pictures of your house so you remember what it looks like that they couldn't handle. Its the part where hot freight has got to be delivered, no matter what. Its the part where a dispatcher in Salisbury loads you out and expects you to be in Covington, KY in 8 hours (not gonna happen, not even driving teams). Don't let clowns that don't know anymore about driving other than putting the key in the ignition of daddy's car, get under your skin.
Truckers move America.
