Hillary Clinton Attributes Female Candidates’ Shortfalls to ‘Unconscious’ Gender Bias
Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Wednesday attributed the shortfalls of failed female presidential candidates — Sens. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Kamala Harris (D-CA), and most recently Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) — to “unconscious” gender bias.
Clinton spoke to Vanity Fair, ahead of the New York premiere of her documentary Hillary, about the Democrat primary race and offered insight on the females in the race, who ultimately failed to resonate with Democrat primary voters.
She called Warren, who dropped out of the race Thursday morning, “an incredible candidate” but mused that “unconscious” gender bias likely affected all of the women who threw their hats in the ring.
“I think we made some progress, but there still was a lot of the unconscious bias and the gendered language that has been used around the women candidates,” Clinton told the magazine. “I think it affected all of the women that ran.”

Maryland Attorney General News Releases: Attorney General Frosh Joins Lawsuit Challenging the Unlawful and Unconstitutional Diversion of Billions of Taxpayer Dollars to Build Border Wall
“President Trump’s attempt to divert funds to build a border wall is unconstitutional and an abuse of executive authority,” said Attorney General Frosh. “Trump’s notion that a border wall will enhance national security is a fantasy. On the other hand, reducing or eliminating funding for military construction projects and equipment endangers the safety of our citizens and members of our armed services.”
On February 13, 2020, the Trump Administration announced that it would redirect over $3.8 billion in funds that Congress appropriated to the DOD for resources and equipment for state National Guard units nationwide toward the construction of a border wall. Congress has repeatedly rebuffed the President’s insistence on funding the border wall, providing limiting funding for fencing along the border in the 2019 and 2020 budgets.
Maryland has much at stake in this lawsuit. Specifically, the Trump Administration intends to transfer billions of dollars Congress appropriated for procurement of F-35 and C-130J aircraft, which are produced by Lockheed-Martin, a defense contractor headquartered in Maryland. The F-35 program is Lockheed’s largest, accounting or 27% of its nets sales in 2019 and expected to represent an even higher percentage of sales in future years. Additionally, in FY 2020, Maryland stands to lose as much as $614 million in military construction funding that would otherwise flow into the state economy. At-risk projects include the Presidential Aircraft Recapitalization Complex at Joint Base Andrews, a new operations building at Fort Meade, an air traffic control tower in St. Inigoes, and a U.S. Army Medical Research facility at Fort Detrick.
In the lawsuit, the coalition argues that the diversion of funds violates the principles of separation of powers, the Presentment Clause, and the Appropriations Clause of the U.S. Constitution by usurping Congress’s appropriation powers. The coalition further asserts that the Trump Administration fails to satisfy the legal requirements necessary to divert the funds and disregards the National Environmental Policy Act by failing to consider the environmental impact of construction. The diverted funds will be used to construct a wall on the borders of California and New Mexico, which poses imminent environmental harm to more than 100 sensitive plant and animal species.
In addition to Maryland, the suit was joined by the attorneys general of Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Wisconsin.

DNC Changes Debate Rules to Exclude Only Woman in Race
The Democratic National Committee has changed its presidential debate qualifications to exclude Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D., Hawaii), the only remaining female and minority candidate in the race.
Under the newly announced rules for the March 15 CNN/Univision debate, candidates must have at least 20 percent of the awarded pledged delegates in order to qualify. In every debate since February's Iowa caucus, any candidate who received even a single delegate automatically qualified for the debate. Gabbard won two delegates on Super Tuesday by placing second in her native American Samoa.
Elderly white male candidates Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders have already locked up the required delegates, but the rule change makes it nearly impossible for Gabbard to qualify, even with a strong showing in the next round of primaries. The congresswoman needs 335 more delegates to lock up 20 percent by March 15, but only 352 are up for grabs on March 10.

Troopers Arrest Delmar Man for Domestic Related Attempted Murder – Bridgeville
Bridgeville, Delaware – The Delaware State Police have arrested Daniel W. King, 56 of Delmar, Delaware on multiple felony charges stemming from a domestic-related stabbing that occurred Saturday during the early morning hours.
The preliminary investigation has determined the incident occurred at approximately 1:12 a.m., Saturday, March 7, 2020, as troopers were dispatched to a residence on Wilson Farm Road, Bridgeville for a break-in and serious assault. It was reported, Daniel King, the ex-boyfriend had broken into the victim’s residence and began assaulting her with a metal pipe. King then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and began stabbing her while she attempted to call 9-1-1. Troopers arrived on scene and located the suspect in the residence where he was taken into custody without incident. The victim was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to a local area hospital for her serious injuries and is listed in stable condition.
Troopers took Daniel W. King into custody without incident. He was transported to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:
- Attempted to Commit Murder First Degree
- Two counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Burglary First Degree – Occupied Dwelling Cause Physical Injury
- Aggravated Menacing
- Possession of Burglar Tools
- Criminal Mischief Over $1000 Recklessly Damage Property
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child Committed a Crime Child Witnessed by Sight and Sound
Daniel W. King was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and then committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $215,000.00 cash bond.

A Missouri man was sentenced to 19 years behind bars for attempting to assist the Islamic State in attacking the United States.
Robert Lorenzo Hester Jr., 28, was sentenced Wednesday after he pleaded guilty in September 2019. He believed he was attempting to provide material support to the terrorist organization from October 2016 to February 2017 but was actually communicating with undercover FBI agents.
"Law enforcement engaged Hester to see if he was truly committed to an act of terrorism, and his responses left no doubt that he was," the Department of Justice said.

Statement Regarding Potential COVID-19 Exposure Risk at Conservative Political Action Conference
MDH immediately notified the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the governor’s office notified officials at the White House and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“Immediately after learning of this individual’s interactions in our state, we began coordinating with the White House, the CDC and federal officials, the New Jersey Department of Health, Prince George’s County officials, and conference organizers,” said Governor Hogan. “Due to the scale of this conference, we are urging attendees who are experiencing flu-like symptoms to immediately reach out to their health care provider. We are providing this update not to unnecessarily raise alarm, but in the interest of full transparency and out of an abundance of caution.”
MDH recommends that members of the public who attended this event monitor themselves for symptoms of a respiratory infection including fever, cold-like symptoms, cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
Persons who attended this event should check their temperature twice a day and notify their health care provider and local health department if their temperature exceeds 100.4 or if they develop a respiratory illness. They should remain at home until they receive instructions about next steps from their health care provider or local health department.

Woman arrested for carving "white pride" into sidewalk at business in Tennessee
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. — A woman has been charged with vandalism under $1,000 after authorities say she used a rock to carve "white pride" into the sidewalk at a Johnson City business.
According to the release, 41-year-old Mahagany Teague vandalized the DC Fitness on Bobby Hicks Highway in Johnson City.
Authorities say she was arrested on Tuesday and has been booked into the Washington County Detention Center. She's being held on a $1,000 bond.

Rehoboth Beach Man Sentenced to 111 Months in Federal Prison for Gun and Drug Charges Copy
WILMINGTON, Del. – Chief U.S. District Judge Leonard P. Stark sentenced Michael Henry, a 40 year-old Rehoboth Beach resident, to 111 months in prison for possessing cocaine with the intent to distribute it, as well as possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.
According to court documents, Henry was on probation following a 2017 State of Delaware sexual assault conviction. Because Henry had been twice convicted of federal gun-possession charges, he was prohibited from possessing any firearm.
On February 12, 2019, Henry’s state probation officers learned that Henry was violating his probation by carrying a gun and selling drugs. On the basis of that information, the probation officers searched Henry’s vehicle and residence. As they were conducting the search, law enforcement located Henry hiding underneath a mattress. Dispersed throughout the residence and vehicle, the officers discovered more than 333 grams of cocaine, 14 grams of marijuana, digital scales used to weigh drugs, and several “trap” soda cans—cans with a hidden compartment used to conceal contraband. Concealed between the box springs and the mattress where Henry was hiding, the officers found a loaded 9 mm handgun. Henry confessed that he had been selling the drugs since October 2018.
David C. Weiss, U.S. Attorney for the District of Delaware, commented on the sentence: “Despite having been convicted twice of federal gun charges, and despite being on active probation, this defendant chose to deal drugs while illegally possessing a firearm. Defendant couldn’t hide his person; couldn’t hide his drugs; and couldn’t hide his gun. The message is clear—if you possess a gun and sell drugs we will find you and you will go to jail for a long time.”
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Delaware State Police, and the Delaware Department of Probation and Parole participated in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher R. Howland prosecuted the case.

Gallup said that the GOP's 64% enthusiasm at this stage of the election is higher than “any election since Gallup first measured this in 2000.”
Significantly, it breaks the recent pattern of the party not in the White House having higher voter enthusiasm in a reelection year. Currently, 58% of Democratic voters are enthusiastic, a 6-point gap with the GOP.

Missing toddler's remains believed to be found in Tennessee
Remains believed to be that of Evelyn Mae Boswell, a 15-month-old girl, were found in Tennessee, ending a 17-day search across three states for the missing toddler, authorities said. At a press conference Friday night, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Sullivan County Sheriff's Office said they believe they found the remains of the girl earlier that evening.
An Amber Alert was issued more than two weeks ago, but authorities have said she hadn't been seen since at least December.
"This is certainly not the update we had hoped to provide this evening," TBI spokeswoman Leslie Earhart said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD – March 7, 2020 - Members of the House Minority Caucus yesterday offered a series of amendments to improve legislation implementing the Kirwan Commission recommendations (HB 1300). Over the course of almost three hours of debate, caucus members offered fourteen amendments covering a wide variety of issues.
Included in the amendments was a measure requiring a pause in the program if academic outcomes did not improve by at least 25% in five years.
“It is my hope that this bill succeeds and we do not have to take this step,” said Chief Deputy Minority Whip Jason Buckel. I hope the advocates are right and this works, but if it doesn’t, we need a mechanism to ensure meaningful accountability.”

Trump says government will withhold federal funding to sanctuary cities
President Trump on Thursday said the government will begin holding back funds for sanctuary cities – like New York – following a federal appeals court decision last month.
“As per recent Federal Court ruling, the Federal Government will be withholding funds from Sanctuary Cities,” Trump tweeted. “They should change their status and go non-Sanctuary. Do not protect criminals!”
The US Court of Appeals in Manhattan ruled on Feb. 26 that the government can withhold millions in dollars in law enforcement grants to cities and states that do not give US Immigration and Customs Enforcement access to jails and alert the agency when an illegal immigrant is being released.
The decision overturned a lower court ruling ordering the administration to release the funds.

After Hallmark scrubbed all mentions of the pro-life film Unplanned from a recent broadcast, pro-life advocates grew outraged. The star of Unplanned, Ashley Bratcher, first revealed that all references to the film had been removed from Hallmark's broadcast of the Movieguide Awards, even though Unplanned was nominated for awards in three categories.
"This is completely UNACCEPTABLE," she tweeted on Sunday.

ER Doctor: 98 to 99 Percent Of Coronavirus Victims ‘Are Going To Do Very, Very Well’
As the media continues to spread panic about the coronavirus, one emergency room doctor is warning people not to get too carried away.
Speaking on “America’s Newsroom” this week, Dr. James Phillips, operational medicine fellowship director at George Washington University, said that most people who contract the coronavirus will “do just fine.”
“Most of us are going to get this virus. It’s undeniable,” said Phillips. “You won’t find a single expert out there who is saying that this is going to be contained. “And, the more we learn about it, the more we see that the spread is going to be global and, for the most part, that’s OK because the data we know from China shows that roughly 98 to 99 percent of us are going to do very, very well.”
Phillips said that the main danger with coronavirus is how it affects the lower respiratory system, which presents itself as pneumonia. He called on everyone to just take a deep breath and calm down.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement apprehended a man, accused of raping a teenage girl, who was released under New York City’s "sanctuary status" despite the agency’s request to hold him.
Miguel Federico Ajqui-Ajtzalam, a 20-year-old Guatemalan national, was arraigned Friday on charges of raping a 13-year-old girl five times in 2018. However, the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office did not ask for bail, and the judge decided to cut him loose on supervised release.
ICE, which had issued a detainer asking the city to keep Ajqui-Ajtzalam jailed, was able to track him days later, bringing him into federal custody on Monday.

New emails reveal that, while communicating with university officials, Biden attempted to convince the administration to have him teach a course on drug policy, providing a potential list of guest lecturers who were largely connected to his father.
“In 2019, Hunter Biden inquired about the possibility of teaching a course at UCLA School of Law, and he and school leaders held preliminary conversations about the possibility,” Bill Kisliuk, the law school’s executive director of communications, told the Daily Caller. “Mr. Biden subsequently did not submit further materials for the proposed course, which is a required step when the school is considering adding a course. There are no plans for Mr. Biden to teach at the law school,” Kisliuk continued.
