College professor: 'I affirm that I am antifa'

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) -- Complaints against Kirkwood professor Jeff Klinzman, who professes support for a militant leftist group called "Antifa", is opening a debate over free speech on college campuses.

Antifa is a group that has been behind several violent protests nationwide. Their name is short for Anti-Fascist and is a movement focused on physically fighting far-right and white supremacist groups.

The FBI has monitored the group and President Donald Trump is threatening to designate it as a domestic terrorist organization.

Klinzman, who has worked as an adjunct English professor at Kirkwood since January 2010, tells the I9 investigative team, "I affirm that I am 'antifa'". Klinzman declined to take part in an interview with I9 citing safety concerns but said in an email he makes no apology for what he has posted online.

Drop out factor: Democrats who scrapped presidential campaigns (so far) are all white men

Democrats are rapidly tossing out white men from the party’s crowded field of presidential hopefuls.

So far, five of the major candidates in the Democratic race have called it quits and all of them are white men.

The trend caught the eye of Democratic strategist Christy Setzer. She said she saw two commonalities among the dropouts: “White men who haven’t caught on in the polls, and those who still have clear opportunities to run for a different office and don’t want to miss the window.”

The latest dropout was Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, a Marine veteran who hoped his youth, moderate politics and foreign-policy chops would make him an ideal foil to President Trump. But his run never caught fire and he barely registered in the polls.

'Horrifying and outrageous': Holocaust survivor fights Alameda eviction

Musiy Rishin is running out of options.

The elderly Alameda resident's pending eviction from his home of 17 years was brought to the nation's attention earlier this week when the Guardian reported that his landlords, Margaret and Spencer Tam, wanted to replace him with tenants who can afford higher rent.

On Aug. 14, 2018, Tam notified Rishin and his now-deceased son that their rent at the Dunes Apartments on Shoreline Drive would be increased by nearly $700. Prior to that, their Section 8 vouchers – which subsidize rent for low-income tenants – were allowing them to pay $2,520. But before they had a chance to respond, the Guardian reports, another letter was sent by the Tams two weeks later: Rishin and his son were being evicted, and had 90 days to find a new place.

"The fact that Margaret Tam should be able to eke out more profit ... It's horrifying and outrageous," said Sarah McCracken, a tenants' rights lawyer at Centro Legal de la Raza in Oakland. She is representing Rishin as the case moves through the courts. "I mean, he's an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor. It's an example of the larger housing crisis at hand."

Idaho must provide gender confirmation surgery to inmate Adree Edmo

IDAHO — The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled the state of Idaho must provide gender confirmation surgery to Adree Edmo-- an inmate housed at the Idaho Department of Corrections, according to Boise State Public Radio.

That means Edmo will be the first transgender inmate in the country to receive the surgery through a court order.

Based on Edmo's diagnosed gender dysphoria, a panel of judges agreed with Federal District Judge B. Lynn Winmill's ruling in Edmo's favor. They argued that not providing the surgery would be a violation of the Eighth Amendment.

As we previously reported , Idaho attempted to appeal the ruling, an action led by Gov. Brad Little during his first weeks in office.

Importance of patriotism, God, and children plummets among young people: Poll

The importance of patriotism, faith in God, and having children is significantly lower among millennials and Generation Z, compared to previous generations.

In a new poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal and NBC News, nearly 80% of people aged 55-91 said being patriotic is important to them, while only 42% of millennials and Generation Z, or those aged 18-38, said the same. Thirty percent of millennials and Generation Z said religion was important, compared to the over 75% of baby boomers, with just over 30% of millennials and Generation Z saying it was important to have children.

Areas where the younger generations had placed higher importance compared to boomers were tolerance for others and self-fulfillment, with financial security being almost tied between the two age groups.

New Jersey Shells Out $4 Million In College Financial Aid To Illegal Immigrant Students

Perhaps one of the stranger things about leftists is not only their refusal to admit that there is a border crisis but their willful ignorance of how the problem affects the rest of the country. For example, New Jersey now has such a large number of illegal immigrants that the state allows college-aged students from these families to apply for financial aid if they attend school in-state. During the state's first year offering the money, New Jersey spent more than $3.8 million on undocumented students during the 2018-2019 academic year.

USA Today reports that "that 749 students in total received the aid during both the fall and spring semesters of the 2018-19 school year. Most of the aid, more than $3.5 million, was awarded under the New Jersey Tuition Aid Grant, or TAG, program."

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy signed the law in May of 2018. It expanded the Tuition Equality Act to include students without legal status who have attended high school "for three or more years and either graduated from a New Jersey high school or received the equivalent of a high school diploma in New Jersey."

G-7 day one: CNN's Acosta suggests Trump responsible for racism in Europe

As world leaders gathered in France for the G-7 summit, CNN panelists sharply criticized President Trump for multiple policy stances.

Jim Acosta, 48, who has been at odds with Trump on several occasions, indicated that the president would likely feud with French President Emmanuel Macron, who Acosta does not believe shares Trump's opinion on nationalism. Speaking of Macron's Nov. 11 speech in Paris to honor the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Acosta claimed that Macron was speaking antagonistically to Trump.

"It was a very strongly worded rebuke of President Trump's brand of populism and nationalism that has obviously swept across the United States but is now making its way across Europe," Acosta said. "It is a very big and worrisome trend in Europe."

Tlaib was speaking out after her trip to Israel was abruptly canceled earlier this month.

"It’s been very clear to me, especially this last week, that he’s scared of us,” Tlaib said. “He’s afraid of women of color … because we’re not afraid of him and we’re not afraid to speak up and say that we have a white supremacist in the White House who has a hate agenda. MAJOR Fentanyl Shipment from China Seized in Mexico

The Secretariat of the Navy of Mexico (La Secretaría de Marina–SEMAR) has reported a major fentanyl seizure believed to be of multi-ton in the Mexican port city of Lázaro Cárdenas in the state of Michoacán.

The Mexican government announced the major fentanyl seizure of initially reported by local media outlets to be approximately 25.75 tons (23,368 kilograms or 51,517 pounds) of powdered fentanyl that originated in Shanghai China and was headed to Culiacán, Sinaloa, the home base for the Sinaloa Cartel. According to a government spokesperson, the seizure was a result of a joint operation led by the Mexican naval elements of the 10th naval zone and Lázaro Cárdenas customs enforcement personnel as reported by local media. Michoacán is located in western Mexico and has a stretch of coastline along the Pacific Ocean.

Gaffe Machine: Biden Wrongly Claims 40 Students Were Shot at Kent State in 1970

The problem with Joe Biden isn't that he's a leftist. Every single Democrat is. No, the real problem with this guy is that he clearly has no idea what he's talking about. Politics, history, race relations... it doesn't matter. Imagine a subject and realize: Biden has little to no knowledge about it.

That would be perfectly fine if he were, say, a truck driver. Sadly, however, Biden is a) a former senator, b) a former vice president and c) the frontrunner for the Democratic presidential nomination.

As we reported yesterday, Biden was in New Hampshire on Friday to promote his campaign. Sorry: to talk to voters. Ha. During that campaign stop, he made a couple of gaffes, among which was him saying that premiums would go up under his health care plan and him wondering what it would have been like if Barack Obama had been assassinated in 2008.

Conservative Latina Rises From The Heartland To Take On AOC In Congress

A 26-year-old conservative Latina from America's heartland announced last week that she is running for Congress to take on the far-left and to lead a new generation of Republicans that will be relentless and uncompromising in protecting the freedoms guaranteed to Americans in the U.S. Constitution.

Catalina Lauf, from Woodstock, Illinois, is a former Trump administration adviser who is running against Democrat Rep. Lauren Underwood in Illinois' 14th Congressional District. If elected, Lauf will be the youngest woman ever elected to Congress, breaking the record set by socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in 2018.

Lauf, who gave an interview to The Daily Wire about her candidacy, announced her run last week in a campaign ad that took aim at the identity politics pushed by media and the Democrat Party.

"My father is a small business owner who worked hard all of his life providing for his family," Lauf says in the video. "My mother is a legal immigrant from Guatemala who worked hard to escape poverty, corruption, and war to find freedom and opportunity here in the United States of America."

A Viewer Is Outraged At The Super Pet In Salisbury

A local customer had gone in this past weekend to order some items and they realized it was above 80 degrees in the store. All of the animals were panting and appeared to be stressed. They had to return the following day and the heat was even worse. They confronted the manager and they stated that the owner refuses to let them turn on the A/C. They even admitted when the leave they are instructed to turn off the box fans.

While these animals are under roof and do in fact have water, many would say that this business that sells some animals for over a thousand dollars can and or should be able to afford to at least keep the humidity out.

The Health Department, Humane Society have been called, they'll do nothing. PETA has also been called and they are awaiting a return call. What's your thoughts? I happen to think the owner will be making a LOT of comments stating it's perfectly fine to keep these animals in this heat but time will tell.

A Viewer Writes.....Salisbury Super Pets

I went into Super Pets on Dec 17 and in the store I was just looking. I saw this little tiny puppy in a cage. I asked if I could hold it. One employee said no we are feeding them the other employee said no let her hold it. Needless to say I walked out with an $1800 Chihuahua. He was the best puppy that evening. They asked to get him vet checked with their vet within so many days. On which I did (Johnson McKee ) he was making a funny noise like a sneeze. The vet said oh he is fine that's just normal for small dogs. A couple days later he still wasn't the puppy he should have been so I called said vet again and they were closed and said on the voice male to take to Pets ER. Well they had to keep my puppy my little baby and said he has pneumonia and he was going to have to stay for a while. He was so sick and weighing just barely 2 lbs they would do their best. I am grateful I was in the situation to pay them. The following day I was so upset I went back to Super Pets on tears and they said yes we are aware of it all the puppies got sick in their store and they had them in quarantine in which they didn't people were still holding them as I told them. The owner came out and checked Johnson McKee voice mail and said yes you did what you should have done but said not to let Pets ER er do any more x-rays. I told him no they were going to try to get my puppy well. He offered for me to bring my puppy back and he would refund my cost for the puppy and I asked him what would you do with him and he'll no I am not bringing him back I need him as much as he needs me.
When he was released from Pets ER I did what they told me and followed up with the vet again (Johnson McKee ) when I got there he listened to him and said yep he will be fine keep him on meds. I asked about x-rays like shouldn't u do them to be sure he is getting better ? Nope not needed. I went to the counter and paid and sat in my car and read the bill. Teeth looks fine (what wait he never looked at his teeth )
Crying I called around several vets and found one that said bring him right over. After going one step in the door they met me and was truly concerned. Immediately took and x-ray and started treating him. Once a week until the pneumonia was gone x-rays were done.
I gathered all my bills and took them in there and the owner said I am willing to give you a check for the first visit to Pets ER but nothing else because he said to bring my sick dying puppy back to him. (Lord only knows what he would have done with him)
He then said you can take me to court and like I tell everyone else it will cost you more for legal fees then what you will get from me.

Today my puppy has over 5k in medical bills and it was the best thing I have ever done.

Someone Stole The Trump 2020 Flag From Caribbean Joe's

My Grandmother always said, "Someone must have needed more then you did". I guess there is a bright side to situations like this but come on people, at least leave the flag pole behind, LOL.

Nevertheless, we only have around 5,000 Trump Flags and of course I replaced it right away and if necessary we will do so up to 5,000 more times, if you get my drift.

There are some Liberals that will say this will hurt my business, NO IT WON'T. In fact it has increased my business. Here's how I look at it. Caribbean Joe's is quickly becoming the go to place to hang out for Locals. It's clean, the food is fantastic, the drinks are ice cold, the pool is open to the public. Our Staff is second to none. If Liberals chose not to enjoy this environment because I/We support our President, well, that's your loss. In the mean time we will enjoy the very like minded customers who do in fact take advantage of a really cool place. Yesterday at Caribbean Joe's below.
Need I say more?

In the mean time, remember Folks, I'm married to a Liberal. We AGREE TO DISAGREE on many political issues but we do NOT hate each other, so stop the hate. Stop STEALING. Remember, I have TWENTY very high definition cameras around my establishment and I can and will catch the next person who attempts to harm my business.  For now I'll treat this like my Grandmother suggested, someone needed it more then I did.

Pushback grows as states require LGBTQ history

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) — Illinois recently became the fourth state to adopt a policy requiring public schools to teach students about the contributions of LGBTQ people to society, and Maryland is primed to become the fifth.

While advocacy groups say the curriculum promotes inclusion and acceptance, but some faith-based and conservative groups call it a government overreach that ignores some families’ religious beliefs.

The Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest gay rights advocacy group, has been championing the lessons that highlight the accomplishments and struggles of LGBTQ people throughout history.

“There’s something so important about seeing yourself reflected,” said Sarah Warbelow of the Human Rights Campaign. “Ultimately, we really do need every state to incorporate LGBTQ history.”

AOC: Electoral College a racist 'scam' that 'has to go'

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says the Electoral College is a racist “scam” that should be abolished.

The Democrat congresswoman posted an Instagram story Monday that started with her driving along a deserted highway and joking about how many votes there are in rural America.

“We’re coming to you live from the Electoral College,” Ms. Ocasio-Cortez said, National Review reported. “Many votes here, as you can see. Very efficient way to choose leadership of the country. I mean I can’t think of any other way, can you?”

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez cited a March New York magazine article that said black, Hispanic and Asian-American voters are under-represented by the Electoral College compared with white Americans.

“Due to severe racial disparities in certain states,” the congresswoman said in her video, “the Electoral College effectively weighs white voters over voters of color, as opposed to a ‘one person, one vote’ system where all our votes are counted equally.”

Right to bare boobs: Topless advocates take battle to Supreme Court

The trio of New Hampshire women are asking the nation’s highest court to strike down a ban on women appearing topless in public in the city of Laconia, arguing the ordinance violates the constitution by treating men and women differently, NBC News reported.

The legal fight began in 2016, when Ginger Pierro was arrested at a Laconia beach for performing yoga while topless.

A city ordinance bars “the showing of the female breast with less than a fully opaque covering any part of the nipple,” according to NBC.

President Trump has signed a memorandum directing the Department of Education to forgive all federal student loan debt owed by veterans who are "completely and permanently" disabled.

The policy change will eliminate "hundreds of millions of dollars" of student loan debt, Mr. Trump said in announcing the memo at a speech to the American Veterans 75th National Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. The memo Mr. Trump signed on stage Wednesday directs Education Secretary Betsy DeVos and Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie to create an expedited process to make sure those veterans have their debt discharged with minimal burdens, according to the White House.

"I'm proud to announce that I am taking executive action to ensure that our wounded warriors are not saddled with mountains of student debt," Mr. Trump told the convention before signing the memo. "In a few moments I will sign a memorandum directing the Department of Education to eliminate every penny of federal student loan debt owed by American veterans who are completely and permanently disabled."

Federal energy program suggests keeping thermostat set at 78 degrees — 82 while you sleep

To keep your home cool with central air conditioning while also optimizing energy efficiency (and therefore cost), keep the temperature at 78 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

The suggestion comes from Energy Star, a federal program managed jointly by the Department of Energy and the Environmental Protection Agency that provides information to consumers about energy efficiency practices that not only save consumers money, but also improve air quality and protect the environment.

With record-breaking heat waves becoming the norm, finding ways to beat the heat without busting your budget might seem mystifying, which is why Energy Star provided consumers with a set of energy-saving recommendations on how to best manage central air conditioning in warmer spring and summer months.

ANSWERS TO A PREVIOUS POST  OF 8/19/
ANIMALS IN EXTREME HEAT OR COLD WEATHER

I noted from a previous post the  question had been ask to see just where the
County Laws  stated to bring a dog  inside  ,  out of 90 degree temps.

Below you will find the  site to view this under Wicomico County
Animal Care law requirements --- Title 133-23
" Animal Care"------page 33 ,  Under  "B" , Shelter
for Domestic Animals  ,  which was  passed this year.

I could not believe the  very negative statements posted  on the Blog site as to
the article about  bringing   dogs in out of the heat  .  More so  since the
Article  explained  in detail why they should be !   I guess it must have
been overlooked by the reader making the remarks.  So,  Stated once again ,
Dogs do Not Sweat as we humans do to cool themselves.  Ask any
Vet in the area and they will tell you the same.  I noted Dr. Johnson / McGee
has a sign  saying " The heat can kill your animal. "    Thank You !   Any one
owning  a dog should be aware  of that  fact .

I hope this resolves the issue , knowing it is Wicomico County Law .

Commissioners Approve Room Tax Increase; Pocomoke Official Had Threatened To Block Hike

SNOW HILL – Room tax in Worcester County will increase following a unanimous vote by the Worcester County Commissioners this week.

On Tuesday, the commissioners voted 7-0 in favor of increasing the room tax from 4.5% to 5%. The vote came in spite of indecision voiced in previous weeks by District 1 Commissioner Josh Nordstrom, who said if his peers wanted his support they would have to acknowledge the needs of southern Worcester County. Nordstrom’s support was critical because the increase must have unanimous support for the commissioners.

He said after Tuesday’s vote he was hopeful those needs would be discussed at the commissioners’ next meeting and that he thought an increase in room tax would benefit the whole county.

“I felt it was the right thing for the county,” Nordstrom said. “I always felt that way. I think it’s going to be great for tourism … I’m hopeful my proposals regarding the southern end of the county will be well received in the first meeting in September.”

Wild Hit-And-Run Spree Results In 49 Charges

OCEAN CITY — A Delaware woman is facing 48 total charges, including driving while intoxicated and hit-and-run, after a wild spree on Coastal Highway resulted in at least two vehicle collisions.

Around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Ocean City Communications received numerous calls from witnesses, concerned citizens and victims of at least two separate collisions caused by a suspected drunk-driver later identified as Paige Tomczak, 23, of New Castle, Del. After completing a thorough investigation over the course of several hours including interviews with at least 10 witnesses or victims, an Ocean City Police Department officer concluded Tomczak was the alleged suspect in a wild spree through midtown which resulted in multiple accidents and injuries to victims.

Around 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Tomczak was observed by several witnesses driving recklessly and erratically through various lanes of traffic before colliding with another vehicle in a northbound lane on Coastal Highway in the area of 76th Street. The force of that collision caused the airbags in Tomczak’s vehicle to deploy, yet she continued to drive recklessly with airbags in clear view, according to police reports.

CNN ANALYST: WHITE REPUBLICAN MEN ARE ‘GREATEST TERRORIST THREAT’ IN US

CNN Analyst Angela Rye told a Republican strategist on air this week that ‘the greatest terrorist threat’ in the US are white men who think like he does.

GOP campaign strategist Patrick Griffin argued that the so called “Squad” of Democrats, including Reps. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., and Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., has “hijacked” the Democratic Party.

“It’s so interesting that you use the term — the only two Muslim women in Congress, the term you chose to use, sir, is ‘hijacking,’” Rye, the former Congressional Black Caucus executive director, ridiculously responded.

Who Feels This Way?

R.I.P. United States of America!!! You raised the cost of living so high that both parents are always at work, rather than spending time with their children (single parents stand no chance). You took God out of schools. Parents were told 'No you can't discipline your kids'. But the police can beat them for not obeying simple commands.....Well, America, our kids are disrespectful. You shall reap what you sow, and we have lost a whole generation and turned them into rude, selfish, brats who have no respect for people, property or authority! You deemed people with terminal illnesses and some with only a few months to live…fit for work!!! You allow our veterans of war to go homeless and hungry but give out millions to foreign aid!!! You save drug addicts over and over again but refuse to give free diabetic supplies. You bend over backwards to be politically correct, too scared to say enough is enough, in case you offend. You put the retirement age up so people must work until they drop!! People depend on handouts and food banks, while we give aid to others who can work for it. Our retired generation rely on inadequate state pensions, their thanks for working hard. Things need to change!💯

A Viewer Writes......

Hi there love your site. Best news in Salisbury. Has their been a post about Ireton quitting the Council and he was quoted as saying "it's time to move on"... could it be he will finally put his tail between his legs and move out of Salisbury? Can we only pray to God that happens so we never have to see him run again?

I want to hear what others think.

Thank you! Keep up the good work.

Do you remember?

Did you have one for school?

ALERT TO ANIMAL OWNERS

WICOMICO COUNTY AND MD STATE LAWS
REQUIRE ANIMALS NOT  BE LEFT OUTSIDE
                IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER.

"It's important to remember that it's not just the ambient temperature, but also the humidity that can affect your pet," says Dr. Barry Kellogg, VMD, of the Humane Society Veterinary Medical Association. "Animals pant to evaporate moisture from their lungs, which takes heat away from their body. If the humidity is too high, they are unable to cool themselves and their temperature will skyrocket to dangerous levels—very quickly."

Why not to leave Pets In a Parked Car.
Not even for a minute! Not even with the car running and air conditioner on. Remembering the Ocean City Policeman who left his  K-9 dog in his car with the A/C on.  He came out of the Police Station to find the A/C had cut off and his dog ---dead.
On a warm day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous levels. On an 85-degree day, for example, the temperature inside a car with the windows opened slightly can reach 102 degrees within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes, the temperature will reach 120 degrees. Your pet can  suffer irreversible organ damage or die.
If you see a dog outside in temps of 90 degrees , Please  contact Salisbury Animal Control at  410- 749 1070 .   If the answer machine is on , leave your name , your  return #,  the address of where  the Animal in distress is located and description of the dog.  You may want to check  to see if the owners have complied , if not report again .
