Weekly Downtown Fireworks Displays Questioned
OCEAN CITY — Resort tourism officials this week waffled somewhat on the idea of weekly fireworks in the future, instead agreeing to explore other special events that will enhance the summer visitor experience.
During Monday’s meeting, the Ocean City Tourism Commission continued its piecemeal section-by-section review of the town’s tourism strategic plan with a focus on enhancing the visitor experience. The town offers many free, value-added special events throughout the season including weekly fireworks shows downtown at the Boardwalk and uptown at Northside Park during the Sundaes in the Park events.
The latter has been highly successful in enhancing Sundaes in the Park, which has reached record numbers in recent years. However, tourism commission members questioned if weekly fireworks on the Boardwalk downtown have grown stale and wondered if there could be other events to increase the “wow” factor for visitors.

Romney casts lone GOP vote against Trump judicial pick because of a ‘disparaging’ comment about Obama
On Tuesday, the Senate voted to confirm Michael J. Truncale of Texas as the United States District Judge for the Eastern District of Texas by a vote of 49-46.
The vote was mostly along party lines in the upper chamber, with Sens. Cassidy, R-La., Gillibrand, D-N.Y., Hirono, D-Hawaii, Kennedy, R-La., Rounds, R-S.D., not voting; there was, however, one party defection, as Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, voted with Democrats against the nominee.
For Romney, it wasn’t a matter of jurisprudence or legal qualifications, but remarks made about former Democratic President Obama Truncale made in 2011, calling him an “un-American imposter.”

America Deserves Spygate Answers
Attorney General William Barr has appointed U.S. Attorney John Durham to investigate the origins of the Trump-Russia probe. That’s a good thing, as is the inclusion of the heads of both the CIA (Gina Haspel) and FBI (Christopher Wray), along with Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats. Given that Robert Mueller’s report cleared President Donald Trump of collusion, investigating the investigators is also a very necessary thing. No wonder Democrats are panicking.
Why? Because the considerable resources of the United States intelligence community and federal law-enforcement agencies were turned on the political opponents of those in power before the 2016 election. As Barr put it last month, “Yes, I think spying did occur.” This is the sort of thing we’d expect from the likes of Nicolas Maduro in Venezuela, Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Turkey, and, of course, Vladimir Putin in Russia. In America, such abuse should raise grave concerns … even if the administration had a good reason for doing so, which it clearly didn’t.
Case in point: In 2007, Charles Stimson, a DOD official in George W. Bush’s administration, criticized the Gitmo Bar — a name for the attorneys representing the terrorists detained at Guantanamo Bay — and suggested that clients of those firms should make them choose between representing al-Qaida or corporate retainers. He was run out of office for that “offense,” even though the Gitmo Bar provided al-Qaida with far more than Jane Fonda gave the North Vietnamese.

Poll: Sanders support among young voters drops sharply
Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) has seen his support drop sharply among the young voters that have powered his rise in Democratic politics, according to a new poll.
The survey from Morning Consult finds that Sanders’s support among people between the ages of 18 and 29 has dropped from 45 percent in March to 33 percent in May.
Sanders’s support with the youngest voters, who propelled his surprising challenge to then-Democratic contender Hillary Clinton in 2016, has steadily declined in the poll since topping out at 46 percent in late February.

Nadler’s latest admission shows the House Democrats’ subpoena fight is all about the headlines
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., has admitted something that really ought to make the American people reconsider what last few weeks’ drama about the Mueller report was really supposed to be about.
Nadler now says that it was never really his intention to demand that the Department of Justice hand over secret grand jury information when his committee subpoenaed the full, unredacted Mueller report and its underlying evidence.
When asked why there was nothing in the subpoena to clarify that it didn’t demand the federally protected information, Nadler told the Washington Times, “The subpoena doesn’t have to say it,” and added that concern is “a red herring that the Republicans are raising.”

Maryland Coastal Bays Seeks Volunteers for Annual Terrapin Turtle Count
Maryland Coastal Bays Program (MCBP) is looking for volunteers to participate in the Annual Diamondback Terrapin count from May 28 through June 1.
The diamondback terrapin is Maryland’s state reptile and the mascot for the University of Maryland, but its current population status in the Coastal Bays is poorly understood. In an effort to better understand its status, both organizations coordinate annual counts.
Trained volunteers will conduct these surveys throughout the week of May 28 through June 1. Those who are interested in becoming a trained volunteer to conduct surveys should attend training classes, which will be held at the MCBP office on Monday, May 13 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., Sunday, May 19 at 2 p.m. and Wednesday, May 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. RSVP to Katherine Phillips at kphillips@mdcoastalbays.org if you would like to attend. The class will take place at the Maryland Coastal Bays Program office, located at 8219 Stephen Decatur Highway Berlin, Maryland.

Berlin Council Officially Approves 18% Tax Hike In 4-1 Vote
BERLIN – After months of discussion, town officials approved an 18% property tax increase.
On Monday, the Berlin Town Council voted 4-1, with Councilman Zack Tyndall opposed, to approve a tax rate of $.80 per $100 of assessed value. The approved increase is lower than the 34% tax hike initially discussed but citizens continued to express frustration this week.
“The compromise you’ve reached is probably unacceptable to a majority of us, but we understand that at some point something has to be done and you guys have a hard decision to make,” resident Jeff Smith said. “Make what decisions you feel you need to make and know that we’re still watching.”
Resident Tracey Albrecht said that council members were supposed to be stewards of the town. She questioned their decision to purchase “a $3 million dog park” as well as the need for a multi-million-dollar police station. She said many of her neighbors felt the same way.

Barr Trolls Pelosi at the Capitol: ‘Madam Speaker, Did You Bring Your Handcuffs?’
Attorney General William Barr asked Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) if she brought "handcuffs" for him Wednesday at the Capitol, following her accusing him of lying to Congress earlier this month.
According to multiple reporters, Barr approached Pelosi following the National Peace Officers Memorial Service in Washington, shook her hand, and asked, "Madam Speaker, did you bring your handcuffs?" Pelosi smiled and said the House Sergeant at Arms was present if an arrest was necessary, to which Barr laughed and walked away.
Some congressional Democrats have called for Barr to be jailed after the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold him in contempt when he ignored a subpoena for the unredacted Russia report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

Prevent a worm by updating Microsoft Remote Desktop Services
Microsoft has released fixes for a critical Remote Code Execution vulnerability, CVE-2019-0708, in Remote Desktop Services – formerly known as Terminal Services – that affects some older versions of Windows. The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) itself is not vulnerable. This vulnerability is pre-authentication and requires no user interaction. In other words, the vulnerability is ‘wormable’, meaning that any future malware that exploits this vulnerability could propagate from vulnerable computer to vulnerable computer in a similar way as the WannaCry malware spread across the globe in 2017. While we have observed no exploitation of this vulnerability, it is highly likely that malicious actors will write an exploit for this vulnerability and incorporate it into their malware.
Now that I have your attention, it is important that affected systems are patched as quickly as possible to prevent such a scenario from happening. In response, we are taking the unusual step of providing a security update for all customers to protect Windows platforms, including some out-of-support versions of Windows.
Vulnerable in-support systems include Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows Server 2008. Downloads for in-support versions of Windows can be found in the Microsoft Security Update Guide. Customers who use an in-support version of Windows and have automatic updates enabled are automatically protected.
Out-of-support systems include Windows 2003 and Windows XP. If you are on an out-of-support version, the best way to address this vulnerability is to upgrade to the latest version of Windows. Even so, we are making fixes available for these out-of-support versions of Windows in KB4500705.
Customers running Windows 8 and Windows 10 are not affected by this vulnerability.

Eric Trump blasts New York mayor: ‘Our great city has gone to s--t under your leadership’
Eric Trump, the son of President Trump, traded barbs with New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio Tuesday, telling him the “city has gone to shit.”
“Spare me? First you have never created a job in your life. Second, our great city has gone to shit under your leadership. Crime is up, the men & women of the NYPD detest you, homelessness is rampant, our streets are dirty and people are leaving our city in record numbers,” Trump said on Twitter.
The son of the president and executive vice president of the Trump Organization had earlier criticized de Blasio for targeting his father’s business in New York City.

Councilman Says Recovery From Ransomware Attack Could Take Up To Three Months
A Baltimore City councilman said Wednesday he's been told recovery from the ransomware attack on city government could take anywhere from three weeks to three months.
"It's been, I would say, frustrating--from the government side, it's been very frustrating," 4th district Councilman Bill Henry said. "I'm sure it's just as if not more frustrating from the side of constituents who are trying to reach us."
Hackers demanded 13 Bitcoin. At the start of the hack, that was equivalent to around $75,000. However, the same amount of Bitcoin ran more than $100,000 on Wednesday.

Joining 2020 Presidential Race, Montana Governor Becomes 23rd Democratic Candidate
Montana Gov. Steve Bullock just became the 23rd Democratic candidate to enter the presidential race Tuesday, seeking to distinguish himself from the crowded field by highlighting his record as a Democratic governor in a state that voted overwhelmingly for President Trump in 2016.
"We need to defeat Donald Trump in 2020 and defeat the corrupt system that lets campaign money drown out the people's voice, so we can finally make good on the promise of a fair shot for everyone," Bullock said in a video announcement.
The Montana Democrat joins the largest and most diverse Democratic primary field in modern history. Relatively unknown at the national level, Bullock must now compete with candidates like former Vice President Joe Biden and Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont; Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts; and Kamala Harris of California.

Study: Escaped Pet Parrots Now Breeding, Thriving In Wild Across 23 States
When a pet parrot flies away, many owners fear their escape will spell the end for the beloved bird, believing it won’t be able to make it in the wild. But it turns out not only are parrots surviving, they’re thriving. A new study by researchers at the University of Chicago found that 56 species of parrot — none of which are native to the United States — have been spotted in the wild in 43 states. And incredibly, of those species, nearly half have reportedly been breeding in 23 states.
Reports of parrot species spotted living free of captivity and breeding in the U.S. have been occurring for years. Monk parakeets were known to live and breed in a colony in Chicago’s own Hyde Park neighborhood in the 1960s, after a pet bird craze led to the import of thousands from South America. Many escaped their homes or were released by their owners into the concrete jungle, eventually breeding in at least 10 states by 1968.

Survey says half of Americans use swimming pools as communal bathtubs
G-r-o-s-s.
A new survey finds more than half of Americans (51 percent) use swimming pools as a communal bathtub-- either swimming as a substitute for showering or using the pool to rinse off after exercise or yardwork. And, still, Americans knowingly make pools dirty despite nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of respondents saying pool chemicals do not eliminate the need to shower before swimming.
“When dirt, sweat, personal care products, and other things on our bodies react with chlorine, there is less chlorine available to kill germs,” said Dr. Chris Wiant, chair of the Water Quality & Health Council. “Rinsing off for just 1 minute removes most of the dirt, sweat, or anything else on your body.”
The survey revealed 40 percent of Americans admit they have peed in the pool as an adult. Peeing in the pool reacts with chlorine and reduces the amount of chlorine available to kill germs.

Joe diGenova: This is very serious business. For the first time I believe some of these guys are going to prison… Let me tell you something, Horowitz has already concluded that the final three FISAs were completely illegal. He’s now on the brink of finding that the first FISA was completely illegal. Durham has already used a grand jury in Connecticut. They’ve already gotten documents. He’s already talked to the intel people.More
Laura Ingraham: How long has this been going on?
Joe diGenova: Durham’s been working for a couple months. The bottom line is this. This is now – big time! This is where Brennan needs five lawyers. Comey needs five lawyers.
Smart Ways to Make College Cheaper and Better
Distinguished professor emeritus of economics at Ohio University Richard Vedder’s new book “Restoring the Promise,” published by the Independent Institute based in Oakland, California, is about the crisis in higher education.
He summarizes the three major problems faced by America’s colleges and universities.
First, our universities “are vastly too expensive, often costing twice as much per student compared with institutions in other industrialized democracies.”
Second, though there are some important exceptions, students “on average are learning relatively little, spend little time in academic preparation and in some disciplines are indoctrinated by highly subjective ideology.”

Expert Psychologist Blocked on Twitter for Expressing Clinical Opinion on Transgenderism
In the early hours of Sunday morning, an expert Ph.D. psychologist who helped write the official psychological position on transgender identity was blocked on Twitter for expressing his opinion informed by clinical experience. His well-reasoned position was flagged for "hateful conduct."
On Saturday, Ray Blanchard — the Ph.D. psychologist and adjunct professor at the University of Toronto who served on the working group for gender dysphoria (the persistent condition of identifying with the gender opposite your biological sex) for the DSM V, the gold standard of definitions helping psychologists diagnose disorders for patients — tweeted out his clinically-informed opinion on transgender identity.
He still affirmed the controversial idea that sex-change surgery is the "best treatment" for "carefully screened, adult patients, whose gender dysphoria has proven resistant to other forms of treatment," but he opposed "treating" children who may change their minds. (Even this position is debatable, as people who have undergone sex-change surgery after persistent gender dysphoria have later rejected their transgender identity and lamented the mutilation of their bodies.)

Blowhard Democrats Are Green Phonies
Listening to politicians expound on the imminent dangers of that neologism "climate change" you wonder if any of these people could even pass a high school physics test. Maybe Rand Paul — he's an ophthalmologist. He had to take some chemistry. But most of them?
Nevertheless, the Democratic Party at the moment seems to be in a knockdown, drag-out fight for who can be the greenest of the green and push us forward to a brave new world propelled exclusively by solar and wind energy. Only the strongest (i. e. most slavishly devoted to renewable energy at all costs) will survive.
Bernie and AOC are currently beating Joe Biden over the head about this. Poor Joe is frantically shoring up his "environmental" credentials.
If you don't have a dog in this fight, it's kind of funny, but the least these scientific illiterates might do is read a recent Forbes article (it doesn't take a Ph.D.): "The Reason Renewables Can't Power Modern Civilization Is Because They Were Never Meant To." (I know, many of them don't care about "modern civilization," at least until they have to catch a plane. But hear me out.) Michael Shellenberger writes:

Corrupt and Wicked Obama-Appointed Judge Amy Berman Jackson Forbids Roger Stone to Speak to His Best Friend
We reported months ago and again in May 2018, that Obama appointed liberal activist Judge, Amy Berman Jackson, was assigned to the most important court case in US history, the Manafort case in the Trump-Russia hoax investigation.
Sadly, Judge Jackson has a horrible far left record on the bench. In 2013 Judge Jackson rejected arguments from the Catholic Church that Obamacare’s requirements that employers provide cost free coverage of contraceptive services in spite of being contrary to their religious beliefs. This was overturned by the Supreme Court.
In 2017 Judge Jackson dismissed the wrongful death suit against Hillary Clinton filed by two of the families who lost loved ones in Benghazi. The families argued that Clinton had done little to help their sons and then lied to cover it up.
Then on January 19, 2018, Paul Manafort’s case was reassigned to Judge Jackson on January 19th, a few weeks after being filed.

Report: Obama White House Orchestrated Clinton Email Cover Up
According to newly released emails obtained by Judicial Watch, the Obama White House was tracking a December 2012 Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) records request concerning Hillary Clinton’s unsecured, private email server. These new emails prove that the Obama White House knew about the scandal earlier than previously admitted, and attempted to cover it up.
Months after the Obama White House got involved, “the State Department responded to the FOIA requestor, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), falsely stating that no such records existed.”

Months after the Obama White House got involved, “the State Department responded to the FOIA requestor, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), falsely stating that no such records existed.”
Our discovery is centered upon whether Clinton intentionally attempted to evade the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) by using a non-government email system and whether the State Department acted in bad faith in processing our FOIA request for communications from Clinton’s office. U.S District Court Judge Royce Lamberth ordered Obama administration senior State Department officials, lawyers, and Clinton aides, as well as E.W. Priestap, to be deposed or answer written questions under oath. The court ruled that the Clinton email system was “one of the gravest modern offenses to government transparency.”

GOWDY: FBI CITED ARTICLES AND INFO FROM CLINTON ALLY TO CORROBORATE STEELE DOSSIER
Former Republican South Carolina Rep. Trey Gowdy claimed Tuesday the FBI cited articles and information from longtime Clinton fixer Sidney Blumenthal as corroboration for claims made in the Steele dossier, a scenario the former congressman called “a problem.”
In an interview with Fox News’ Martha Maccallum, Gowdy said when he was still in Congress, he saw an FBI spreadsheet that laid out all of the specific claims in the dossier, which former British spy Christopher Steele authored. The spreadsheet also cited information the FBI believed corroborated Steele’s salacious report, he said.
“I’ve seen the spreadsheet, Martha, I have seen each factual assertion listed in that dossier, and then I’ve seen the FBI’s justification. And when you’re citing newspaper articles as corroboration for a factual assertion that you have made, you don’t need an FBI agent to go do a Google search,” said Gowdy, who served on the House Intelligence Committee and is a Fox News contributor.

"I am the brother of Cpl. Ronil Singh. I’d like to thank every single law enforcement officer over here. What you guys go through, I heard stories from my brother. This man over here, the Singh family supports him. Whatever he’s doing for the law enforcement, we support him," his brother Reggie told the crowd.
"His team at the White House has reached out to us multiple times, multiple times. I don’t think that has ever happened before, ever. This man is amazing, and my family supports him," he said.

Ex-ICE Chief on 3 Things Trump Can Do Now to Secure the Border
Thomas Homan, who served as acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement under President Donald Trump, is an outspoken advocate for stronger border security. Homan spoke to The Daily Signal about the crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border and solutions for fixing it. A lightly edited transcript is below.
Rob Bluey: Why do we need to secure the border?
Tom Homan: We need to secure the border because we’re a sovereign nation. We have to protect our border. We are not a country without borders. This is not just about enforcing the law, it’s about saving lives. What’s happening on the border is not only a humanitarian crisis, it’s a national security crisis.
When the cartels move people across the border, even if they’re family units, they are tying up border control assets. A lot of the border is uncontrolled. It’s not being manned, which means the cartels are pushing drugs and bad people to areas that are unprotected. Not only that, people are dying. We already had two children die trying to cross this border.
If we had true border security, if we had a wall, if we enforce our laws the way they are written, enforcement to the fullest extent, you’ll not only save lives, you’ll secure this nation against harm.
Bluey: What are the three things the Trump administration can do right now to help fix this problem?
Homan: The three things we can do right now to address the border crisis is [first,] change the asylum laws. The threshold to pass your first interview on the border is too low.

Survey: Only 2-in-15 Americans Aware of Soaring Illegal Immigration to U.S.
Less than two-in-15 American voters are aware of the soaring levels of illegal immigration across the United States-Mexico border, a new survey finds.
The latest Harvard/Harris Poll reveals that when Americans are asked how many illegal aliens are arriving at the U.S.-Mexico border, only about 13 percent answer correctly. Meanwhile, about 76 percent of Americans believe illegal immigration levels are vastly lower than they actually are.
For example, there were nearly 100,000 border apprehensions in April alone. This puts illegal immigration at the southern border on track to outpace every year of illegal immigration under former President Obama and take the U.S. back to Bush era levels. At current rates, experts project there to be 863,000 border apprehensions this Fiscal Year, though this only counts illegal aliens who are caught at the border and does not include those who successfully cross.
Since Fiscal Year 2010, the number of border crossers and illegal aliens apprehended trying to enter the U.S. has been anywhere between 300,000 to 500,000.
In the Harvard/Harris Poll, though, less than two-in-15 American voters correctly said there are between 250,000 to 500,000 border apprehensions each year. Meanwhile, more than three-in-four Americans incorrectly said there are between zero to 250,000 border apprehensions a year.

Maryland State Police To Join Multi-State Kick Off To ‘Click It Or Ticket’ Seat Belt Mobilization Enforcement Effort
As the Memorial Day holiday approaches, Maryland State Police will join forces with law enforcement agencies locally, along with those in Delaware, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Washington, D.C. to remind drivers and passengers of the importance of seat belt use, while also highlighting their “Move Over” laws.
New to the region’s Click it or Ticket campaign this year, which runs from May 20 to June 2, is a reminder of the dangers first responders and roadway workers face while stopped on the roadways. All 50 States have enacted “Move Over” laws, but very few Americans know they exist. According to a national poll by Mason Dixon Polling & Research, sponsored by the National Safety Commission, 71 percent of Americans have not heard of move over laws. So far in 2019, 14 law enforcement officers have been killed nationally in traffic-related crashes. Law enforcement will be emphasizing move over law enforcement efforts on May 16.
Maryland’s “Move Over” laws require drivers approaching from the rear of an emergency vehicle using visual signals while stopped on a highway to, if possible, make a lane change into an available lane not immediately adjacent to the emergency vehicle.

Uber driver, 23, 'kidnapped and planned to rape two women
California authorities say that a woman was forced to jump from a Uber driver's car and another threatened to break his window when he tried to make a move at them, according to court documents.
Gebrele Amare, a 23-year-old from Oakland, has been charged with kidnapping to commit a sex crime and sexual battery by restraint in connection to two separate rides he took on May 2.
Berkeley police say that the Oakland man attempted to get the women to have sex with him and believe that there other victims who have yet to come forward.
'What the riders reported is deeply troubling,' Uber spokesman Andrew Hasbun said to Berkeleyside. He added that once the riders alerted them to the behavior on May 2, Uber removed Amare's access as a driver for the company.

Denver’s ‘Magic Mushroom’ Vote Moves Drug Legalization Beyond Marijuana
The decision by Denver voters last week to decriminalize psychedelic mushrooms marked a significant shift in the debate over legalizing illegal drugs—which up to this point revolved entirely around marijuana.
Denver becomes the first major American city to decriminalize another controlled substance, after 21 states, including Colorado, either decriminalized, legalized, or allowed small amounts of marijuana, according to the National Conference of State Legislatures.
Drug policy experts disagree on whether the results of the Denver referendum on psychedelic mushrooms mark a domino for more legalization efforts, however.

Stocks Bounce Back As Trade War Fears Subside
Stocks rebounded Tuesday from the sharp sell-off on Monday that followed China’s announcement that it would hike tariffs on $60 billion of U.S. goods in retaliation for U.S. tariff hikes.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by nearly 207 points, a 0.82 percent gain. The S&P 500 climbed 0.8 percent. The Nasdaq Composite rose by 1.14%. The Russell 2000, which is comprised of smaller companies with less international exposure, was up by 1.24 percent.
The Trump administration Monday released a list of Chinese products that could be subject to a new round of tariffs in late June, a move which many saw as escalating trade tensions. At the same time, however, Trump administration officials and President Donald Trump himself have insisted that trade talks have not broken down and negotiations continue.
Speaking to reporters Tuesday, Trump said he was confident that China would come back to the table for a deal.
“We can make a deal with China tomorrow,” Trump said in a tweet. But he added that the deal would only happen when “the time is right.”

DC bill would allow some residents to give parking tickets to neighbors
Legislation introduced in Washington, D.C., would allow certain residents to write out parking tickets to their neighbors.
The goal of the omnibus Vision Zero bill, from council member Charles Allen of Ward 6, is to decrease the number of traffic accidents with pedestrians and cyclists.
The bill proposes the establishment of a Citizen Safety Enforcement Pilot Program, where the District Department of Public Works will allow up to 10 trained residents per ward to be able to write up the parking infractions.

Monsanto hit with staggering $2 billion verdict in Roundup cancer suit
An Oakland jury awarded a staggering $2 billion-plus in damages Monday to a Bay Area couple who both came down with cancer after spraying Monsanto Co.’s widely used Roundup weed killer on their properties for more than 30 years.
It’s the third such verdict against Monsanto, all in Bay Area lawsuits, and by far the largest judgment against the company.
Alva Pilliod, 76, of Livermore was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2011, and his wife, Alberta Pilliod, 74, was diagnosed in 2015. They had used Roundup to kill weeds on the grounds of three properties they owned in the area, applying it once a week for nine months out of the year. Their lawyer estimated they sprayed 1,500 gallons of the herbicide over three decades.

MAGA vs. the U.S. Chamber of Commerce
The general public typically equates the Chamber of Commerce with local Mom and Pop businesses in their area which meet for networking and mutual support in local chapters across the country. This is erroneous. According to the Hill:
More
While local chambers cater to the needs of car dealers and restaurant owners, the national Chamber operates as the lobbying arm of large corporations that have never met a big government program they did not like.Even seasoned politicians are susceptible to having misconceptions about the Chamber. Former U.S. senator Jim Demint admits he naively thought it was lobbying for free enterprise and creating a better business environment for everybody. Now he says, "I pronounce them part of the swamp." Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich), a conservative, adds, "I believe in free markets and am against cronyism and corporate welfare, and they [the U.S. Chamber of Commerce] support those things."
They are weapons dealers pushing billion-dollar battleships and telecommunication lobbyists protecting slow Internet at the world's highest prices. They are lobbyists for pharmaceutical companies, big banks, and Wall street traders who treat the American people as gullibles to be fleeced without mercy.

#Blexit2020 — How Black Voters Will Turn Out in 2020
Blexit opened many black eyes to the truths of the Democrat party. Now we look forward to the 2020 presidential election and examine the pressing issues black voters are truly concerned about.
The horde of progressive Democrats are running on empty, using any sensitive issue to fuel their campaigns. It’s their way to reach for low-hanging fruit that appeals to the uninformed. Topics like reparations and marijuana legalization are worn like a brand shown only to black voters to keep them emotional. For one, it’s insulting that these candidates believe black voters would give up their precious votes in exchange for free money and drugs. And two, it’s cheap. This is why the Blexit movement matters.
In 2020, the Blexit movement will shine a guiding light on the real issues affecting black Americans. I think of it as a lighthouse designed to help our lost sailors find their way home through the thick fog cast over them. To see this light, some of us have a long way to go, but more than ever before has the black population been closer to reaching the shores of sound political insight and the true issues that affect us.

WHO IS JOHN DURHAM, THE MAN ASSIGNED TO EXAMINE THE ORIGINS OF THE RUSSIA INVESTIGATION?
Attorney General William Barr reportedly assigned U.S. Attorney John H. Durham to investigate the origins of the Russia investigation, but this is not the first high-profile case Durham has undertaken.
Durham became a Justice Department lawyer in 1982 and has conducted special investigations for both the Republican and Democratic Parties, The New York Times reported Monday.
Durham went after Connecticut street gangs in 1992 and prosecuted mobsters in the Gambino, Genovese and Patriarca crime families, TIME Magazine reported. Durham was also responsible for exposing former Connecticut Gov. John Rowland’s corruption in 2004, which led to the governor spending a year in prison.
Former Attorney General Janet Reno commissioned Durham to investigate the FBI’s relationship with informant and Boston mobster Whitey Bulger in 1999. Durham’s team was responsible for indicting Bulger cronies Stephen “The Rifleman” Flemmi and special agent John Connolly Jr. who are portrayed in “Black Mass,” according to The Day.

Eating Too Much Black Licorice Causes Heart Problems
Black licorice has been a favorite confection for thousands of years. According to Healthline, licorice root which is used as a sweetener in many candies and beverages, has been used for its medicinal benefits for centuries. The ancient Egyptians used licorice root in tea to soothe gastrointestinal problems. The glycyrrhizin acid in licorice boasts anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting properties.
Licorice is also touted as an excellent treatment for respiratory problems, reducing stress and assisting in the treatment of both breast and prostate cancers, according to ongoing research by the American Cancer Society. Topically, gels containing licorice can help treat eczema because of its antibacterial properties. Many holistic health practitioners suggest applying licorice to tooth decay to kill bacteria.
But the FDA has issued a stern warning if you are 40 years or older, eating two ounces of black licorice a day for at least two weeks could land you in the hospital with an irregular heart rhythm or arrhythmia.

Walmart launches free next-day delivery, taking aim at Amazon
Walmart is rolling out free next-day delivery on its most popular items, increasing the stakes in the retail shipping wars. The nation's largest retailer said Tuesday it has been building a network of more efficient e-commerce distribution centers to make that happen.
The next-day service will cover 220,000 popular items from diapers and nonperishable food items to toys and electronics. That's nearly double the number of items Walmart carries in its stores.
Next-day delivery, which will require a minimum order of $35, will be available in Phoenix, Arizona and Las Vegas on Tuesday. In coming days, it will expand to Southern California. The discounter plans to roll out the service to 75 percent of the U.S. population by year-end. It will also be adding hundreds of thousands more products as the program expands.

Saudi Arabia Claims Iran-Backed Houthis Staged Drone Attack on Oil Facilities
Saudi Arabia said on Tuesday that drones laden with explosives, evidently launched from Yemen by the Iran-backed Houthi insurgency, attacked two of its oil pumping stations.
A team of U.S. military investigators reportedly believes Iran or its proxies orchestrated the bomb attacks on four commercial vessels anchored off the coast of the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, two of them Saudi oil tankers.
Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih linked the drone attacks to the tanker bombings, describing them as a plot to jeopardize the world’s oil supply.
“These attacks prove again that it is important for us to face terrorist entities, including the Houthi militias in Yemen that are backed by Iran,” he said.

New security flaw in Intel chips could affect millions
Intel has revealed another hardware security flaw that could affects millions of machines around the world.
The bug is embedded in the architecture of computer hardware, and it can’t be fully fixed.
“With a large enough data sample, time or control of the target system’s behavior,” the flaw could enable attackers to see data thought to be off-limits, Bryan Jorgensen, Intel’s senior director of product assurance and security, said in a video statement.
But Intel said Tuesday there’s no evidence of anyone exploiting it outside of a research laboratory. “Doing so successfully in the real world is a complex undertaking,” Jorgensen said.

Gregory Angelo: Trump is on track for lasting legacy as president who ended AIDS in America
The message crackled like thunder.
"Great news today: My Administration just secured a historic donation of HIV prevention drugs from Gilead to help expand access to PrEP for the uninsured and those at risk," President Trump wrote on Twitter last week. He added the agreement would "help us achieve our goal of ending the HIV epidemic in America!”
Pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) "reduces the risk of getting HIV from sex by more than 90% when used consistently," according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The multi-billion-dollar deal, brokered by Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, will provide PrEP for “200,000 individuals each year for up to 11 years."
To term this a major milestone in the fight against HIV/AIDS — a disease that has taken the lives of hundreds of thousands of Americans and wrought an especially cruel toll on the LGBT community — is an understatement.

AG Barr appoints 'bulldog' federal corruption-fighter John Durham to probe origins of Russia hoax investigation
With the appointment of the U.S. attorney for Connecticut to investigate the origins of the probe into specious allegations of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, a troika is now in place to get to the bottom of the biggest political scandal in American history: the weaponization of the federal government's law enforcement and Intelligence Community to sabotage a rival presidential campaign. It is already public knowledge that the U.S. attorney for Utah, John Huber, was appointed by former A.G. Sessions to investigate the Clinton Foundation and surveillance abuses. Inspector General Michael Horowitz is said to be investigating how the FBI handled the Steele dossier and Steele himself, as well as Stefan Halper, a CIA and FBI asset who attempted to lure George Papadopoulos into incriminating the Trump campaign by planting intelligence with him.
The appointment of Durham was not publicly announced, but reporters from outlets such as Fox News, USA Today, and the New York Times were quietly informed of the move.
So who is John Dunham, and why was he appointed?

Deaths Of Children At The Border: The Rest Of The Story
Recently there have been three news reports of children dying in the U.S. while in custody of the U.S. Border Patrol. That phrase, “while in custody of” is used to imply that the child would be alive today if only the Border Patrol had let them illegally trespass without interruption. If a child dies in a hospital, the media rarely claims that the child died “while in the custody of” a hospital. It doesn’t have the same impact. Every media outlet in America knows that a news story about the death of a child is emotionally heartbreaking. Children are a vulnerable subset of the population like the elderly and the disabled. Nearly every adult holds in their heart the feeling that children need our protection.
Nevertheless the liberal media exploits the sensitivity we have when hearing about the death of a child. In today’s political environment, nothing is sacred. Politicizing the treatment of children of parents illegally crossing into the country gets attention mainly—and only if—the left can weaponize and hammer people who want secure borders, or support President Trump and law enforcement like the Border Patrol or Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
In the first news report a 7-year-old Guatemalan girl died, “after being taken into U.S. Customs and Border Patrol Protection,” the story said. Her father dragged her on a 2000-mile journey from northern Guatemala. Her father stated she was in good health during the screening process. Her health deteriorated on a 90-minute bus ride to the Border Patrol station. She was immediately transported to a hospital. An autopsy report indicated that she died from sepsis, a bacteria found in her lungs, adrenal glands, liver, and spleen. I am not a doctor, but I can safely presume that she had that bacteria in her long before she hit the U.S. border. This is very sad, but it isn’t the fault of U.S. border policy. It can be said that her father was negligent in dragging her on that dangerous journey. Why is that fact not being raised by the liberal media?

More than 5,000 asylum seekers have been returned under "Remain in Mexico" policy
More than 5,000 Central American asylum seekers have been returned to Mexico under the Trump administration's controversial "Remain in Mexico" policy, a Mexican government official told CBS News on Monday. The policy is aimed at deterring an unprecedented flow of migrant families heading to the southwestern border.
As of this week, 5,273 migrants from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador — collectively known as the "Northern Triangle" — have been returned to Mexico to await their court hearing in the U.S., the official said. A federal U.S. appellate court has allowed the administration to continue implementing "Remain in Mexico" while it reviews a legal challenge to the practice, which immigrant advocates believe puts migrants at risk.
The Mexican official said the American policy is creating an unsustainable situation for the country's government, led by leftist President Andrés Manuel López Obrador. Still, the official said the Mexican government will continue to prioritize the safety of migrants.

Tariffs: The Taxes That Made America Great
As his limo carried him to work at the White House Monday, Larry Kudlow could not have been pleased with the headline in The Washington Post: "Kudlow Contradicts Trump on Tariffs."
The story began: "National Economic Council Director Lawrence Kudlow acknowledged Sunday that American consumers end up paying for the administration's tariffs on Chinese imports, contradicting President Trump's repeated inaccurate claim that the Chinese foot the bill."
A free trade evangelical, Kudlow had conceded on Fox News that consumers pay the tariffs on products made abroad that they purchase here in the U.S. Yet that is by no means the whole story.
A tariff may be described as a sales or consumption tax the consumer pays, but tariffs are also a discretionary and an optional tax.
If you choose not to purchase Chinese goods and instead buy comparable goods made in other nations or the USA, then you do not pay the tariff.

Feds bust massive marriage immigration fraud
Federal prosecutors announced Tuesday they’ve busted a massive full-service marriage fraud scam based in Houston that charged people up to $70,000 to arrange a sham wedding with a willing U.S. citizen in order to immigrate to the U.S.
A total of 50 people have already been arrested and dozens more are still on the lam, authorities said.
The payments not only produced willing “spouses,” but also bought the fraudsters fake wedding photo albums, false tax and property records and a full storyline meant to fool U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services into believing the marriage was real.
Customers included people in Vietnam looking to enter the U.S., and others already in the U.S. who wanted to gain permanent legal status.

Hunter Biden Must Testify Over Daddy-Linked Dealings In Ukraine, China: Schweizer
Investigative journalist Peter Schweizer has called on the Senate to invite Hunter Biden to testify about his business dealings in China and Ukraine - both of which were linked to his father, former Vice President and 2020 presidential candidate Joe Biden.
"What I’ve called for simply is for the Senate to call former second son Hunter Biden to come and testify and people look into this," said Schweizer in an exclusive interview with The Hill. "We’re talking about large deals and large sums of money...it involves countries like China, which are America’s chief rival on the global stage."

The researcher provided an overview of Hunter Biden's alleged business dealings with Ukrainian energy company Burisma and the Chinese government in a recent New York Post op-ed that details payments of more than $3 million to Hunter Biden's company during a 14-month period when his father was the point person on Ukraine policy for the Obama administration. -The HillMore
Biden: Trump ‘an Illegitimate President’
Former Vice President and 2020 Democrat presidential contender Joe Biden on Tuesday said he “absolutely” agrees with a woman who claimed that President Trump is an “illegitimate” president during an event in Nashua, New Hampshire.
AUDIENCE MEMBER: I have a very severe case of what’s called Trump Derangement Syndrome. It probably pre-dates his announcement for election because I know people in New York City who dealt with him years ago. I have a frustration also with the Democratic party, so this is more of a comment than maybe a question. It has to do with messaging. I would like to see the party and every candidate come out with a very simple message regarding him...
He is an illegitimate president — in my mind. That’s it! I think all the talk about impeachment and what the Democrats should do, that’s fine....
JOE BIDEN: Would you be my vice presidential candidate? Folks, look, I absolutely agree...

Texas Senate Committee Advances 'Chick-fil-A' Bill
A Texas Senate committee on Monday advanced a bill designed to stop cities and other government bodies from taking “adverse actions” against businesses that publicly embrace religious views, a measure introduced after the city of San Antonio refused to allow Chick-fil-A to rent space in its airport because of its company’s vocal opposition to same-sex marriage, The Dallas Morning News reports.
The bill was derailed in the Texas House last week by an openly gay freshman member of the chamber.
San Antonio’s city council in April banned Chick-fil-A from operating in its airport. Two weeks later, a New York Democratic assemblyman announced that the Buffalo airport food vendor was prohibiting Chick-fil-A from operating in its food court as well.

STEM School Shooting Could Have Been Prevented If A Parent's Report Was Taken Seriously
Five months ago, a parent called Douglas County School Board of Education Director Wendy Vogel.to express concerns about problems at the STEM School in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Specifically, the anonymous parent expressed concerns about bullying and violence. The parent feared the school could become the next Columbine because of allegations of violence, sexual assault and bullying on campus.
Daniel Winsor, a district official, wrote a letter on Dec. 19, urging STEM School Executive Director Penelope Eucker to investigate the concerns to determine “their legitimacy, and to take any remedial action that may be appropriate," KUSA-TVreported.
The letter referenced the parents concerns, saying "many students are suicidal and violent in school. Several students have reported sexual assault in school and that nothing is being done."

Mr. Ratburn Comes Out as Gay in 'Arthur' Season Premiere
Believe it: PBS Kids' show "Arthur" still is airing new episodes but in more ground-breaking fashion, teacher Mr. Ratburn comes out as gay.
TVLine reported Monday's premiere episode of the series' 22nd season, "Mr. Ratburn and the Special Someone," features Arthur and the gang shocked to learn their teacher is engaged.
This is because, of course, most kids think their teachers don't have lives outside of school. "When they go home, they sharpen pencils, eat kale and dream up homework assignments," Buster says in the episode.
The group later finds Mr. Ratburn having lunch with another rat-like character, voiced by Jane Lynch, and decide her comments toward their teacher -- he needs to "toughen up" -- are enough that him marrying her would just be so awful.
