Wicomico County Ready To Open Outdoor Seating For Bars/Restaurants

Wicomico County Executive Bob Culver said this morning the County is ready for bars and restaurants to reopen with at least outdoor seating. He hopes Mayor Day will work with the County to move forward in this direction and he also stated he's looking forward to stage II to open indoor seating in the near future with restrictions, of course. The County will hold meetings today with the liquor board to make sure they're on board as well.

As for Worcester County, they too have plans on multiple meetings this morning to develop their plans to move forward. What I can tell you is that there are many bars/restaurants preparing to do exactly what I attempted to do last weekend and create outdoor seating off their designated liquor license plat. Of course we would have social distancing to create a safe and healthy environment.

I will create a new post hopefully today updating all of you as to what becomes of these meetings today. Enjoy this beautiful day.

Awesome! We need to open

We need to get restaurants open immediately. This whole thing is a gross overreaction to a virus. Nursing homes need to be monitored but everything else needs to open.

Thanks for the update

I’ll need a $5 increase in my hourly pay before I can return as a cook at downtown Salisbury restaurant.

Bars/ restaurants in Wicomico with outdoor seating, not in city limits. Where are they?

Anonymous said...

How about all the restaurant that do not have outdoor seating available? How is that going to work? And are restaurants really going to set up in parking lots? Who else saw that idiot Matt Traders idea of rooftop dining overlooking the outlet stores in west ocean city. All its going to take is one distracted driver getting into an accident and the lawsuits are going to fly.

All locations that already have outside dining should be able to open and follow the soical distancing guildlines and groups under 10. But come on...but restaurants that are going to create makeshift outside services are just looking for problems.

People need to be patient and use common sense.

AMEN, 8:11 AM.

BUT, is the COUNCIL going to try and block this?

8:34, If they don't have outdoor space they simply cannot open. Thee are some people coming on here saying the virus will spread. OK, stay at home then.

Its becoming all about the halves (outdoor seating) and the halve nots.

Unless business start buying picnic tables - sorry folks! These are the rules of the land as we know it!

#metoo. I am not going to risk my life so the owner can pat himself on the back for the great person he says he is.

You know they will! They survive just to resist everything GOOD that Bob tries to do!

Thank you Bob!

Or lazy butt people should have saved money and learned to cook at home. It is really odd what people scream to be open. We cannot help ourselves, open it up.

Anonymous said...

Hopefully so. Nobody there is going to keep distance. Everything sounds good in theory, but practically it won't work. Can you see everyone drinking with mask down hovering around the little ladies. Heck Joe posted the picture of the lady yesterday with a mask on and the guys were already going crazy. That is what will happen.

Or you can let him go out of business and have no job to return to when this passes. That extra $600 will go away and then people will be begging to go back to work. If you have the option to return to work take it.

Adams Ribs, Tall Tales,

Why didn't they take advantage of pick up and delivery and stay open ?

I'm trying to figure how when 2 weeks ago we were at 300 or less and today we are near 800

To only be infected by those who don't think they should when we do come out

Anonymous said...

To only be infected by those who don't think they should when we do come out. Had wicomico did proper testing from the door we would be at a better place to open

Your psychopath tendencies are showing. You really wanna risk killing people to open your stupid little bar that only the same 12 people go to?! Wow. Just wow.

Anonymous said...

Stay the heck home then. There’s plenty of people in line to take your place

Risk your workers. You're sick

There has been zero contact tracing that lead to exposure in a restaurant. This because unless you go up and swap spit with an infected person for 15 minutes your chances of getting it at a restaurant is near zero if not zero.
The only environment where it's been established it was spread was a nail salon in CA. Not much was said but it's been rumored it was Chinese owners who either had recently come back from China or had a house guest who did and it was before people were talking precautions such as hand washing and sanitizers.

Why is roof top dining a bad idea in WOC. In many other cities they have rooftop dining with awesome little stages for live music/ private groups etc. it’s innovative thinking that will help everyone grow and allow businesses to flourish. Quit throwing shade.

This is a sad state of affairs. As a deemed "essential" employee working in a grocery store I see 6 days a week how non compliant the people of our communities are thus far. This move is being made far too soon in my opinion. Stating things will be this or the public should do that doesn't mean anyone will actually be socially responsible and do as such. Countless people when asked to appropriately social distance doing the exact opposite and getting within inches of employees or other customers is a thing dealt with regularly. Asking the public to wear masks correctly covering both mouth and nose for the duration of time spent in proximity of others just doesnt happen. People rip the mask off directly after crossing the threshold of the door upon exiting meanwhile bypassing countless people on their way to their vehicles. It's tragic to feel like your life and the well being of not only yourself but the community you serve matters equals absolutely nothing in comparison to the $$$.

The bar flies have been having a hard time making ends meet, now they can get back to work hustling drinks and cash for sexual favors.

Good Bob? Do you know as a contractor have many Subs he screwed over? Good ole Bob.

10:39 You've proved the point that most of the orders were quite useless. First off if you work in a store you chances anyway of getting it from a customer is practically zero unless of course you are kissing them, sticking your fingers in your mouth etc. No one gets it from casual contact. That is an undeniable fact.

11:38 are you talking about our local drunk woman that is named Julie B. ?

Anonymous said...

I doubt this is real news .

Roof top dining is fine for a location that has that in place. The building codes and regulations for that to become a reality in west oc will take at least a year with permit requirements. People are going to get hurt if they dont use common sense.

0% of your big box business that have been open have had no infections reported although they have had every dumbazz in there stores and never cleaned a keypad once. You would've had to get within 6' of over 1,000 people in Wicomico county to even come in contact with one person infected. With a virus that is 98% curable with the only treatment being tylenol. Over half of the deaths came from underlying health problems like being 600# overweight or a health problem that was going to kill you if this didn't. The biggest conspiracy theory is located between your ears!!

Here’s the problem people, local governments can make MORE RESTRICTIVE laws than the Governor but they can’t make LESS RESTRICTIVE laws. The Governor has ordered all restaurants closed with the exception of take out that is taken OFF PREMISES. Local governments can’t relax that order. They can make more restrictive rules (such as OC closing the boardwalk and beaches...that was NOT ordered by the Governor but enacted by local government) but they can’t relax or lessen what the Governor mandates. So, until Hogan lifts that ban, we are stuck with it. All the kings horses and all the kings men can’t put Humpty Dumpty back together again

Our near future is not going to be like anything people are accustomed to. Just going out to food shop is a circus shit show that tries ones patience I can't imagine how ridiculous going to a bar or restaurant is going to be. I can eat and imbibe at home in a sensible relaxed way. There are not that many places around here that unique to really get worked up about missing. Maybe if your young LOL or old and single and cruising or can't cook or have a herd of kids to drag out and get the stink blown off of it's a bigger deal. I'll continue to entertain friends and family at home that I know have been taking responsible precautions in the meantime.

Rooftop dining is great. It's all over Manhattan for forever. Some of the places have no views at all because it's blocked by taller buildings. They decorate the space so it seems like you are indoors but the sky is above you.

Anonymous said...

Hahaha. But very true

10:07 It's basement guy! Seriously dude, get a new shtick.

Anonymous said...

@10:12 Basement Guy! Nah, I'll stay in the U.S. You are welcome to go though? With your lovely attitude I am sure you will get along fine with them. Make sure you don't wear your mask though.

But think of all the middle age guys who will be able to finally get a ice cold beer and flirt with the ladies. That is livin' I tell yah.

Thank goodness all the people cover their mouths and noses around here when they cough.

if people have been staying home and its been 14 days then they havent got it UNLESS someone is releasing it in the air I think a couple of months over 14 days is long enough

6:05. I got a job for you.

I want hazard pay.....everyday there are new cases and you want to open outdoor dining.....
Brew River & Market Street can only accommodate so many at a time, BOB!!

How are bartenders going to make money when the bar has to keep patrons at 6 feet distances so most bars can only have 3 guest at a time I guess.I personally dont want to put myself at risk because people think coming out and getting drunk is top priority. The numbers in our area are higher then they say because I know people who tested positive and when there household called their doctors they tell them to just stay home for a week and they dont test them.Im sure that the spouses of these people have it to but are not being counted and are being rushed back to work.

As per executive order, all bars and restaurants remain closed to the general public throughout the State of Maryland however they can continue to conduct business by carry-out, drive-thru, and delivery services in accordance with social distancing guidelines and recommendations.

Genius. You must have NEVER supervised or coordinated people in the real world. Trying to get even six people to move in the same direction for a common goal or cause is like herding kittens. Good luck with your “rise up”. People like to TALK a big game until it really is “game time”.

How about all of you so pressed to open up restaurants risks your lives and work at them? Simple.
