Gov. Hogan Says 'Disturbing' Disparity In COVID-19 Deaths Among Blacks

Maryland’s GOP Gov. Larry Hogan on Sunday described as “very disturbing” the 52% of coronavirus deaths among African-Americans in his state.

In an interview on ABC News’ “This Week,” Hogan noted he called for a study to track the number of cases and deaths by race because it wasn’t being monitored, including by the federal government.

“This disparity among African-Americans is very disturbing,” Hogan said. “It’s why I called for the study. You know nobody was really tracking these things.”

"The vast majority of our resources are focused on that Baltimore-Washington corridor and these communities that you’re talking about,” he said. “It’s where almost all of our attention, all of our focus, all of our money, all of our health care, all of the assistance from the national guard, it’s really where all of our testing is being done.”

But that’s racist Dr. Fauci didn’t you know.

Facts equal racism to the left.

There are just as many similarly poor unhealthy whites from the same socioeconomic class suffering. Of course they would not want to be lumped in with that demographic but that's what's enlightening about this all.

So...does anyone else think that this shouldn't be newsworthy? People with less healthy lifestyles have higher medical complications. That's not shocking. It is what it is. Why does everything always have to be about race? Ridiculous.

I'll say it. Maybe they aren't taking the proper precautions like everyone else? Maybe it really does effect them moreso than others.

I guess Hogan needs to hire a new Chief Diversity Officer, just like Salisbury University just did. That will cure the problem, right?

It can't be about race any more...their savior brought equality to them! He gave them welfare, food stamps, housing, cell phones, and preferential job treatments...

They failed over the last generation - they have had plenty of opportunity to get with the program - they squandered it!

This is mother nature's payback!

He can't explain the disproportionate number of murder victims in Baltimore either.

So is he saying that the Chinese communists don't like blacks?

I would stand arm and arm with my black neighbors to take out these communists.

God did not make it.

I could break it down for you governor but the facts would hurt your liberal feelings.

What Dr. Fauci was saying boils down to this.. obese people are suffering and dying the most, and it is because of their obesity and the conditions that go with that (like high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma, heart disease, etc).

As it happens, overall the black population is more obese than the non-black population.

And among black women, the rate of obesity is extremely high.

Now, I suppose that someone will try to make this a racial thing (they're already starting), but the TRUTH is-- if you are obese, you are much more likely to die from this disease.

There are a number of factors in obesity, but the BIG one is-- what you eat.

So if you live on fast food, biscuits and gravy, donuts, potato chips, and sugary drinks, there is nothing but trouble ahead, virus or no virus.

And it ain't Trump's fault, Puddin'.

You can bet your ass that MSNBC, CNN, NYT and WaPo will be all over this. Right now, i bet they are all on Zoom trying to figure out how to use this to make DJT look bad.

Sure you will say it. You also show how much of an uninformed idiot you are. In the cities hardest hit, blacks are the "essential" workers which means they have to be out there where they get exposed. With gentrification, these same workers are packing onto the bus/train to get there. Throw on asthma and other health issues and you've got the recipe for the high numbers we are witnessing.

maybe it's because some people just can't follow the rules? ya think?

At the end of the day, Americans are dying. Same Americans I would stand and fight with against any other nation of enemies.
