Atlas Is Shrugging

“Government help to business is just as disastrous as government persecution... The only way a government can be of service to national prosperity is by keeping its hands off.”

- Ayn Rand

Congress has just approved an economically bloated $2.2 trillion spending relief bill, an amount more substantial than the GDP of all but a handful of countries. It is only the third massive relief bill, and we’ve been told several trillion dollars more would have to get spent. Then there are the trillions of dollars more of Federal Reserve Board liquidity injections.

We are starting to talk about real money here.

The politicians believe that sending $1,200 checks to people will “stimulate” the economy.

Among the many mistaken provisions of this new law is a welfare benefit to workers that pays them more money if they quit and become unemployed than if they stay on the job.

Oh boy, can for once you guys stick to facts to make an argument.

The $2.2 T is a waste, agreed. But "Among the many mistaken provisions of this new law is a welfare benefit to workers..." Oh thats the conservative narrative now? You get that from Rush Limbaugh? Hey dummies, you can't get UE if you quit!! That is already long established law. This is one area where Dems do get credit for saving American workers. GOP wanted these provisions drastically reduced.

This article can't get the basic fact above correct so no need to read the rest of the crud. I'll just say, if you are looking for waste in the stimulus bill, take a look at the $500 B Trump was looking to dole out to his business buds, with little oversight, to kiss his butt in public. Thankfully that got atleast modified to give more oversight but its still a huge waste to give 500B to corporations that have liquid reserves, collateral, stock to sell, etc.

Another waste: small business loans for payroll. Why would I as a small business take on debt at a time where I can't sell my product??? Makes more sense to layoff the workers and they get their UE benefits till we are back in business.

The list of waste in this bill goes on. The problem is we keep getting half baked crap solutions that only pay off to those in power because folks like you would rather blindly cheer on corrupt inept politicians. This is true on both sides of the political spectrum. Wake Up! For the sake of your country.

She was not popular in her time. We had rid Europe for the moment of Fascism, we were feasting on the postwar boom and obsessed with the rise of Communism. The New Deal had run it course. Her logic was thought to be sterile and cruel in the Booming 50's.

Yeah, like those $300 and $600 Obama checks spurred more spending and provided a boost to the economy. Does Washington have a memory?

Many of us who have no reason to file tax returns because of disability or just living on SS benefits won't get a check. We'll muddle through as prices rise and shortages emerge.

Wrong 3:22. Please read:

After previously stating that Americans on Social Security would need to file a 2018 or 2019 tax return, the IRS said Wednesday night it will not require a tax return from Social Security recipients in order to receive a stimulus check.

"Social Security recipients will automatically receive economic impact payments without the need to file taxes for 2018 or 2019," the IRS said.

2:03 they won't wake up because ignorance is easier. They see something on Fox news, Trump restates it because he also watches Fox news and thus the loop is complete. Illusory truth effect.

Have a friend in California who is worried that any loan he gets from gov. won't be forgiven because his employees can make more off unemployment than what he has been paying them and they won't return to work.

423pm...that's small in comparison to the Biggie's AND it required clarification from the IRS....who by the way was stripped to the bars bones in doing what? Being one of the gov revenue generators.
