The Nine Biggest Food Stamp Fraud Busts of 2019

The Trump administration has done its best throughout the year to keep people from relying too much on welfare such as food stamps, but it also works hard to combat criminals who commit fraud with the benefits for financial gain.

The food stamp program is a federally funded program administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), and federal investigators with the agency are most often the ones who catch those engaged in fraudulent activities.

Sometimes, these investigations can occur at the state level because state agencies are responsible for administering welfare programs such as food stamps.

Investigators often uncover millions, sometimes billions, of dollars worth of food stamp fraud, mostly from people who run convenience stores in low-income areas where many customers receive food stamps through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).

After reading this article the Food Stamp program should be cancelled. The US Government should bring back the "surplus program" used in the early 60s. You stood in line for your supplies - blocks of cheese, bags of flour, butter, peanut butter etc all handed out to the needy. No credit/debit cards to buy what you wanted. All handled by the Government - not grocery stores.

I'm in my 70s and I do remember the "surplus food program," however, most people don't. It was a Government hand out for people who lost their jobs due to the economy. People who wanted to work but jobs were not available. These people were greatful for the hand out and did feel it was an entitlement like so many people who receive Food Stamps. The people who stood in line moved in to a brighter future because of hope. Today's welfare recipients want more free stuff. Stop the free stuff now.
