22,000 drivers receive erroneous notices threatening suspension of E-ZPass accounts

PERRYVILLE, Md. — Cashless tolling at the Hatem Bridge is going through a bumpy start.

The state erroneously sent 22,000 drivers notices that they were speeding. The notices threatened drivers that, if it happened again, they'd lose their E-ZPass accounts.

It turns out, the notices were sent because of an equipment malfunction.

The notices are largely being met with anger and disbelief. Drivers claim they know they weren't speeding, and they're upset and anxious that their E-ZPass accounts could be suspended.

"I don't recall signing up for speed enforcement when I signed up for E-ZPass," said William Murr, an E-ZPass user.

If you think this is a mistake you are naive. Remember that in communist countries travel was extremely restricted. You had to get “permission” to travel outside of your county or town. Speeding at ez pass, jaywalking, minor credit card issues will be enough to start revoking your right to travel.

So I suppose there will be no bridge or road maintenance soon. That's real smart 8:35, take a look around and notice what's happening everywhere

Well Mr. Murr, that EZpass doesn't give you any right to ignore speed limit signs posted at every EZpass toll location. We see your kind every day that thinks having that EZpass transponder gives you the right to blow through the toll station without reducing your speed, or obeying the posted speed limit. Mr. Murr, you signed up for speed enforcement when you applied for your drivers license, not the EZPass. What a moron! Ignore the sign, pay the fine.

I don't think he can, or at least comprehend what is in front of him. I bet he is one of those drivers that think he needs to slow down other drivers, block them in, and rides in the left lane not allowing anyone to pass because 'the speed limit is the same in both lanes'.

I'm surprised there are not MORE road rage incidents around here. One never knows who is carrying a firearm or crossbow in the trunk.

Perhaps BOTH of you have the reading comprehension issues. I did read the whole thing, bogus tickets and all. What you didn't read was my excerpted quote that I addressed with my comment. EZPass doesn't exclude anyone from getting speeding tickets. Mr. Murr is of the impression that he didn't sign up for speed enforcement when he signed up for EZPass. And I say no, he signed up for speed enforcement when he got his driver's license. Now what part don't you two understand? Geesh, there are some stupid drivers on here. And a few that seem to be butt hurt over getting their own speeding tickets. 3:03 AM, go back to bed. You are ridiculous making anonymous threats to people that you don't even know, Some people shoot back.

I think 3:03AM came home drunk and got on the internet. He has those beer muscles all pumped up. And his brain muscle is out of gear.
