A disturbing trend affecting 5 million American children

In the Oval Office yesterday, President Donald J. Trump announced bold action from his Administration to combat a new type of addiction threatening American families.

“We have a problem in our country. It’s a new problem. It’s a problem nobody really thought about too much a few years ago, and it’s called ‘vaping,’” the President said. “And the parents don’t know too much about it.”

About 8 million adults use e-cigarettes today—but so do 5 million American children. “An entire generation of children risk becoming addicted to nicotine because of the attractiveness, appeal-ability, and availability of these vaping products,” Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar said.

Watch: Trump Administration removes all flavored e-cigarettes from the market.

To protect our children and ensure that e-cigarettes return to their original function—helping adults gradually overcome nicotine addiction from tobacco products—President Trump has authorized the Food and Drug Administration to finalize rules that ban the sale of all flavored e-cigarettes.

The President’s actions come as a result of new data, not yet released, from the National Youth Tobacco survey. Secretary Azar briefed the President and First Lady on the new report yesterday, which shows a surge in adolescent usage of e-cigarettes. It also confirmed that children are drawn to flavored e-cigarette products in particular.

The ban will cover all non-tobacco flavored e-cigarettes, which includes bubblegum, fruit, alcohol, mint, and menthol flavored products.

Let me first say Pres Trump will still have my vote, im not a one issue voter. I have the utmost respect for our First Lady Melania. I have great disappointment now concerning Doctor Azar. I was somewhat proud that Azar is from Salisbury and have always heard good things about him, but for him to ignore the facts in order to push this agenda causes great concern. I get that most First Ladies projects tend to our youth, I get that making sure her pet project gets done is important, I also get that Pres Trump will have to support it. The choice to ignore the facts are what concerns me and the fact THEY have underestimated how much it will effect voter support. Lets look at the facts.
The chart supplied shows a decline in cigarette/tobacco use, the largest portion of that decline was substituted for e-cigs. If the alternative e-cig was not there we would not see the decline in tobacco. I bet the tobacco lobbyist really love and support you doctor Azar...big big money right there...
Where are the charts showing how adult tobacco use has significantly been reduced by the vaping industry, the option to vape and the interest in many flavors has in most cases enabled long term smokers to get off tobacco when no other option worked. You wont show those charts because it dosent fit the narrative, like the enemy does? Wheres all that TRUTH at now? While vaping or e-cigs are still a bad habit, their far better than ANY tobacco products, and leading option to kick the tobacco habit. LESS harmful. Ive not seen any vapor stores that dont strictly card/ID all customers regardless of age, and I do frequent these outlets. Ive not witnessed even one underage vapor user or incident, yet I have witnessed cigarette use at the bus stop.
Considering the amount of alcohol abuse by underage consumers....are you planning to ban all beer flavors too? Just the ones that look bright and fruity, flavorful ones?
There are millions of unlawful uses by teens with their phones...are you going to ban the brightly colored phones too?
Teen car accidents and violations...ban fast bright colored vehicles?
Should we ban brightly colored dresses too? They might be the cause of sexual harassment...might be the cause of some rapes?
Are you planning to ban some of the flashy attractive popular guns too?
Where will this nonsense stop? Are you or have you become exactly like the Left!? Are you so busy or so conceded that you can no longer consider the RIGHTS of the REST of US?!
You see Dr Azar and Melania, what youve done here is EXACTLY what the idiot communist LEFT has been doing ALL along. YOUR turning a blind eye to the fault of the violators and punishing everyone else.
Your trampling the rights of the lawful to avoid incriminating the unlawful. Your infringing on the Rights of the law abiding instead of dealing with those violating the law...ALL to push your agenda.
Dont be stupid!, most voters arent.

So which is worse, smoking tobacco, or vaping? They're both bad, but which is worse? I don't see any debate on that. Vaping was supposed to be better than smoking, and the was no second-hand smoke issues. Now vaping is bad. It is better than cigarettes, or not? What's that? Did someone just cough?
