Local Celebrity Wayne Cannon Visited Caribbean Joe's Yesterday

Wayne Cannon "West Ocean City Food and Drink: The Alamo Motel, Restaurant and Bar on Route 50 is Alive and Well. I must make a confession. I was born and raised on the Eastern Shore, live just down the road from The Alamo and have passed by The Alamo over a thousand times and have never set a foot in the place, until today, August 6, 2019 at about 3pm. I was completely blown away by all the neat new changes that Mark Odachowski and his partner Joe Albero have made. They have done a complete make-over of the buildings and grounds...cleaned it up, threw lots of stuff away, brought in new stuff and the place looks fantastic. It is Caribbean Cute and Key West Quirky.

History Lesson:
It was named the"Alamo Court" in 1946 by Ocean City businessman, Bill Weaver. Mr. Weaver served in World War Two as a fighter pilot with the famous "Flying Tigers" and at one time he was stationed in San Antonio, Texas...the home of The Alamo. He remembered the design of this famous structure, where Davy Crockett, Jim Bowie and many others would die in 1836 during the war between Texas and Mexico and he would bring the name and the design back home to Ocean City. The Alamo Motel (then known as the Alamo Court) was the first motel built in Worcester County. When Bill Weaver got out of the Army Air Corp in 1946, he bought two acres along the new Route 50 entrance to Ocean City and hired Ridge Harmon Sr. to build the 40 unit motel with an Alamo design and feeling.

Back to Now:
One of the neat new things about the new improved Alamo is their pool is open to the public. All you have to do to use the pool on a hot day is buy a drink or two, have lunch or dinner and jump in. I was very impressed by what I saw today and I think you should give them a shot and check things out yourself. So, the next time you feel like having lunch or dinner or meeting the gang for some drinks...Remember The Alamo. Please click on all the pics.".
