US Teen Flees To Avoid Student Loan Repayment: "I Had To Escape This Debtors' Prison!"

An American teenager fled the country in 2011 to avoid repaying student loans he took out to complete a college education. This isn’t the first time this has happened, and it certainly won’t be the last.

Stories of crippling student loan debt are not new, however, the idea that one can escape their obligation to repay the money they’ve borrowed is a symptom of the massive irresponsibility running rampant in our culture and propagated on a daily basis.According to the New York Post, a Pennsylvania man bought a one-way ticket to China to leave his financial woes behind after four years of job searching had gotten him nowhere in the United States.

Of course, no one held a gun to this man’s head and forced him to take out loans.

Couldn't find a job. Must've had one of those challenging in-demand liberal arts majors like lgbtq videogames appreciation.

Parents are allowing their children to do this crap. And after four years, a liberal Art's degree in basket weaving. 80 to 100 thousand dollars in debt and no job. Should hold the parents accountable...

Skipping out on what you owe is not the way to go either, it's called responsibility, a word these young ones don't like. If you can't pay in the end, don't sign in the beginning.

One of those Underwater Philosophy majors surprised that they can't find a job. Sorry snowflake, no one forced you to take the loan.

Tired o hearing these irresponsible cry babies. They made the choice. They made the debt willingly. They are guilty of stealing / embezzlement of this money. That means they are criminals. this shows they are a high risk for loans. I made my decisions and paid off my debt I agreed to. I had to work 3 jobs, 1 full time and 2 part time, for 11 years to pay my debts. Why are these winy babies any different? They need to work at McDonalds until they pay their debt. They are a bunch of worthless lazy bums.

It was worth the default if China had to take him. They both got what they deserve.
