Flag Status Alert: Maryland Flag is at Half-Staff
This is to advise that Governor Larry Hogan ordered the Maryland State Flag be lowered to half-staff effective immediately (Fri 6/14/2019 10:27 AM) and returned to full-staff at sunset on the day of interment (not yet known). This action is in honor of R. Clayton Mitchell, Jr., Former Speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates, who died Thursday, June 13, 2019.

All of the flags at UMES - even the flags of other countries on the campus green - were half staff. They weren't taking any chances somebody might be offended.

Half mast just because he WAS a former employee of a government agency? What makes him any better than the rest of us. Stop putting those people on a pedestal.
