The FCC voted Thursday to allow phone companies to block robocalls automatically for their customers.
The vote would allow phone service providers like Verizon to switch on technology that blocks robocalls, which have exploded in number to about 5 billion a month nationwide.
The companies would not need their customers’ permission to block the calls.
The FCC expects companies to provide the service for free, but the vote doesn’t require them to do so. Service providers could start charging customers for the phone-blocking service, as some currently do for caller ID and other features.

If you have Caller ID Verizon identifies SPAM CALLERS now. I also bought a Call Blocker Unit, It takes a little attention when you first start to use it, but it cut down my calls by 99%. I get very few nuisance calls now. It was worth every penny I paid for it.
Or we could just stop voting for incompetent morons who appoint FCC commisioners like Ajit Patel but maybe jus stick with your outdated call blocker
It's about time that the FCC gave us some protection from these annoying and often predatory calls.
Nobody has ever appointed Ajit Patel to anything, moron.
If regular robocalls aren't bad enough, I got two this morning in Spanish.
The phone companies aren't interested in stopping any of these calls.
12:00 you sound like Mr. Patel's jilted boyfriend. Want some more whine with your vinegar?
We pay tooooo much already > should be FREE !!!!!
