Organ donation could be taught in Md. schools

ANNAPOLIS, Maryland — Several bills progressing in the Maryland General Assembly would provide support for living organ or tissue donors, and educate high school students about becoming a donor.
Sponsored by Sen. Shirley Nathan-Pulliam, D-Baltimore City and County, Senate bill 954 could require county boards of education to begin teaching students about organ donation in public schools starting in the 2020-2021 school year.
That bill, and an identical piece of legislation sponsored by Delegate Pam Queen, D-Montgomery, are intended to begin teaching students about organ donation at the age of 14, before they receive their driver’s licenses and decide whether they want to be a donor, Queen said.
This bill is intended to get more young people registered as organ donors to combat the long waiting list for organ donation, Queen said. The bill is also aimed to promote awareness of live organ donation, she said.

yeh screw teaching them reading math or science

LOL How about teaching them about Money, Finance, Credit Score, Interest Rates etc. The same courses they make people take when they File for Bankruptcy are the courses they should be making Students and Citizens Take and Pass.

How about we teach them to read and write?

Enough of adding social issues as mandatory teaching! I want my children to be taught how to read, write, not just typing on a keyboard, do mathematics, history from a neutral view point, not an agenda of demonizing either side in wars and social studies of peoples of the world, again from a neutral perspective. Not political issues, not walkouts, not protesting on school time for personal agendas of a teacher, school board or teachers union in order to advance a cause of their liking!!

Why not they don't teach anything else except hate white people, Trump is bad, democracy and capitalism is bad and anybody that isn't white is a victim of the white people

Just make it a short class in the already required health classes, along with a class on the good of donating blood. Think of it as how to be a good citizen.

Teach? Just take a kidney from every student and solve the donor crisis for kidneys. What are we, China? We let gays become "teachers" and they are teaching kids to become gay like them. The hell with science, and BIOLOGY. Lawmakers do nothing but grandstand for recognition to get re-elected every two years. I don't think there's one that deserves my respect.
