Dementia patients to be tracked by 'smart meters'

The UK's NHS is to use energy smart meters to monitor dementia patients in their homes.

The devices will track patients’ daily routines, such as when they boil the kettle, cook dinner or turn the washing machine on.

They will flag up any sudden change in behaviour which could indicate an illness, a fall or a decline in their mental state. The meters will be able to send alerts to family members or carers, who can pop round to check if the patient is all right.

Ministers have promised to install the devices in every home by 2020 to reduce energy consumption, but the rollout is massively over budget and behind schedule.

Privacy campaigners warn that the meters will hand suppliers a ‘honeypot’ of data which could be sold on to marketing firms or fall into the hands of hackers.

honeypot of data interesting

And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Maybe they could do that for college students, too ... to see if they've had too much to drink.

All I can do is just laugh at you all dumb asses and keep saying I told you so... You all think this new tech is all fancy and crap and fail to realize they will use it to track you... As an electrical engineer, I kept telling you as hats this is very possible to do with not just your RFID in your credit cards, but they can track you via electromagnetic radiation, AKA what the smart meters puts off when it sends and receives a signal... They can tell you, if you have the right devices, where you exactly stand in any room, and what your heart beat is and some other data I do't need to get into... If you have the right device, you can get a clear foot print and plan of the house layout as if you live there all your life or as if you designed it... Not only that, but they can see how ling your washer or dryer was on, what settings it was on and what detergent you used, among where in the house it is... You can laugh or deny any of this and that is fine, not like you are smart enough to understand anyway...

I think it is just funny how I keep telling you people to just open your eyes and pay attention, they are telling you the kinds of tech they have and how they will use it on you, clearly years after the fact and after they lie to you for the real reason it was being designed for... And as I said before, wait for it, they will start to track your miles you drive to make you pay a tax, and soon very soon in California, they will start to monitor your hvac systems on power consumption... Soon, and I saw the documentation on the cities website, CA if forming a police force that will be tasked with enforcing green tech laws and green energy and in general energy laws... All you have to do is look, it is right there for you to read, all of it... Ah but your to fat and stupid to care right??? Long as you have your new iphone right, you will always be a good little salve right.....
