Philadelphia sees its first homicide of 2019 just 12 MINUTES into the new year

Within quarter of an hour of the New Year being rung in, a man was shot and killed in Philadelphia.

The deadly gun attack in the Pennsylvania city follows its bloodiest year for more than a decade, with 351 murders in 2018 in a city of just one and a half million people.

The gunshots were heard on the 3200 block of Tampa Street in the city's Kensington are shortly at 00.12am today.

Officers found a man, believed to be in his twenties, lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his head.
