Family sues State of Maryland after son dies in custody, drugs found in system

BALTIMORE —The family of a man with an intellectual disability who died while in custody three months ago is suing the State of Maryland. The medical examiner found he had ingested morphine and fentanyl.

Family members of Deniro Bellamy think those drugs were forced on him while he was in a holding cell and that there was a delay in getting him medical attention.

The family is suing for negligence, believing Bellamy's life could have been saved.
