A Viewer Writes: Like Father, Like Son

Ricky Pollitt tweeted about his column in the paper about him supporting Ray Lewis' induction into the NFL Hall of Fame. Funny how Liberals are quick to defend athletes like Ray Lewis and his involvement in the murder and stabbing deaths of two individuals. He defends Ray Lewis but forgets to mention the blood all over the suit he wore that night. In the column Ricky goes on to say Ray Lewis should be recognized for what he did on the field an not off. He then goes on a rant of all the "great things" Ray Lewis is doing off the field as reason why he deserves the induction. He also includes a picture of Ray Lewis kneeling with other Ravens during the National Anthem.

Myths about Ray Lewis - facts matter.

1. Ray Lewis was involved in a murder – Ray Lewis was an eventual witness in a murder case. He was charged with the murder of Jacinth Baker and Richard Lollar along with his two companions Reginald Oakley and Joseph Sweeting. The murder charges stemmed from a vicious fight in Atlanta streets following a Super Bowl Party in 2000. Eventually, the case ended with the defendants acquitted for reasons of self defense. In the eyes of the court, no murder took place.

2. Ray Lewis’ friends went to jail to protect him – This is in a lot of blogs and opinion pieces. It’s just not true. No one in this case went to jail.

3. Ray Lewis refused to testify against his friends in the murder trial – It’s the opposite. Ray Lewis started the trial at the table with Oakley and Sweeting. He flipped, pleading down to an obstruction of justice charge in exchange for testimony. Lewis was the state’s star witness. Some sources say the three men were no longer friends because of the alleged betrayal. Ironically, the only person to serve any sentence in this case at all was Lewis. Had he not flipped, he likely would have walked away with the same acquittal as the other defendants.

4. The murders were never solved – This is written a lot, along with something to the effect that no other suspects were ever arrested. It doesn’t seem to be in dispute that Oakley and Sweeting killed Baker and Lollar. The jury found that it was self defense after only a few hours of deliberation.

5. Ray Lewis is a murderer – Ray wasn’t involved in the fight that killed the two men. His companions were. Lewis wanted no part of the fight, but not for some moral or noble reason. He wanted to avoid the conflict because he was concerned it might hurt his NFL career. Throughout the process, Lewis seemed consumed with protecting his then burgeoning NFL superstar status. He made them promise silence in the limo afterward and lied to police the morning after. He flipped on his buddies to avoid scrutiny.

Truths about Ray Lewis:

He was a spectacular player, and a leader/legend to the Baltimore Ravens and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Last I checked, someones political opinions weren't on the list of things evaluated when considering inductees.

There are 2 families that lost a loved one to murder, and Ray wouldn't confess to who the killers were. That means that there are murderers on the street because of Ray Lewis. What a great role model.

No kneeling protesters over the deaths he caused. I suppose they were acceptable.

I suggest you read the comment above yours that deftly refutes your assertions.

I guess it shows that if someone gets a second chance, even if he didn't deserve it, that they can change and offer a lot to the world.

Slug, and son of Slug. Not talking about Lewis, who was just so classy gyrating at the ceremony. Son of Slug was evidently reason Baltimore Sun scooped up Daily Disgrace in order to capture his byline.

One thing for sure is that the Pollitt lineage stops with Ricky. Transgenders don't have children.

Yeah I saw some clips from the show and the thugs acted like thugs, black thugs.

Yeah Right!! He changed a lot didn't he?? Went on the field with current Ravens players and took a knee during the National Anthem. That offered a lot to the world. That told the world that Ray Lewis hates cops, the National Anthem, our military and our country.

Ray Lewis is a worthless POS Douche Bag just like Ricky Pollitt is.
