As soon as you come up with millions of extra dollars to pay teachers for CCW classes, training and ongoing range time. The union is going to mandate that teachers are paid for all time.

My mamma always said , "fight fire with fire" , it works well . For those of you that just don't get it you are a complete liberal idiot.

We all know that the majority of teachers are democrats and liberal , getting them in tune with this will be very hard . The states will have to step in and make this a top priority .

That still does not explain why this only happens in the US.I totally agree with arming the staff, but we comprise less than 5% of the world population. As bad as a large portion of the other 95% have it,they still don't have school shootings.

Dear 732 where have you been hiding , it does happen in other countries and in Africa mostly shootings and slaughter with knives.

Not fast enough. Need experienced law enforcement individuals in schools. I'm sure there are prior military members who would qualify, believe we have LOTS here in the USA!

Need to think in different terms because the enemy within IS!!!!!!!!

This cannot be done soon enough. Arming teachers is not the answer, especially when their job is to teach. Experienced law enforcement individuals is what our schools need. Could be retiree's - could be Veterans with weapons experience. We have more than enough veterans from a population standpoint and with the proper training and qualifications - we can make this happen.

Times have changed and we must think in different terms - especially when the enemy within is already doing that!

Let me ask all of you a very simple question. Or two.

IF YOU were a Teacher and someone came into your school shooting up students, would you REALLY want to be unarmed???

Or would you rather have the peace of mind that you had at least something to protect your Students?

IF it truly is all about the CHILDREN, who in their right mind wouldn't want to protect them!

It's time to stop the Liberal BS. One Officer cannot protect an entire school. We need to be PROACTIVE and those thugs who cause these mass shootings need to know there's a damn good chance someone is going to shoot their a$$ if they ever make an attempt ever again.

So those of you suggesting it's crazy for Teachers to carry a weapon are the people who are truly crazy.

I get your drift 7:10, but it doesn't say teachers. Staff could be a number of many non-teachers that are employed in the building. You don't think their budget is that heavy with just teachers. Arm the qualified along with teachers. They are not all liberal. Just my humble opinion.
Oh, and if education budgeted their funds better all over the country (yes country-not county), there would be enough money already. What is their priority, wasting money or human lives?

Anonymous said...

Makes perfect sense to me. I believe that there would be many teachers that would volunteer for the training on their own time. Screw the union, just do it. Even some liberals would like to defend themselves.

The very first thing that should be done (or legislated) right now - immediately, is a ban on publicizing the shooter's name and showing the shooter's photo.
Do exactly what is done with rape victims. No names - no pictures.
This generation thrives on "fame" (infamy is fame, too), and so many are looking for some sort of recognition and see this as a very easy avenue for attaining that.
Yes, sooner or later - probably sooner - their identification will be on the internet, but at least it won't be splashed across every TV in the country for days and weeks on end.
You probably know the names of the Columbine shooters. Do you know even one name of their victims?
ALSO:
I've been damn near stripped-searched going into a local court to try and beat a parking ticket. Metal detectors; single entrance; and at least three or four cops manning that post. This is for traffic court, mind you!
Do the same for our schools: Single entrance; detectors; staggered start times for classes; and at least one armed guard.
Both these suggestions should be done NOW!

8:52 Joe I see your point, however I'd rather live in a world where these psycho kids don't have access to Pappy's shotgun or rifle. Who is going to pay for all this? We can't even get adequate supplies for America's schools and we're supposed to throw money into combat training for educators?

What exactly makes you think that all teachers are of a sound moral compass? One minute it's "These liberal schools are the enemy" the next its "Give the teachers in these lying liberal school guns". You're all just puppets for the NRA.

Here’s another simple question. Does anyone who aspires to a career in teaching anticipate that part of the job will be to protect their students from shooters? I really doubt that you’ll find too many teachers who are eager to carry weapons in the classroom. This is ridiculous. The US has dramatically more school shootings than any other developed nation. Let’s figure out the real reasons for this and how to prevent it. Introducing more weapons into schools, even in teachers’ hands, is not the answer.

Another question that could provide an answer to this teacher/gun question is how many teachers are liberal and how many are not? If the answer leans toward liberals - they have enough problems just teaching than teaching and worrying about protecting 30+ kids with a weapon. Leave them concentrate on teaching and supply or schools with enough protection that's needed.

Wholeheartedly agree about teachers/guns IF we had a strong teaching staff that wanted to protect not only themselves, but our children too. I just don't think we have teachers or future teachers either. Heck, we do not have enough NEW teachers in schools as it is, since competition is high and folks are going to where the pay is better. The ones that don't, well they don't want anything to do with guns and hence the preverbal dog trying to catch its tail.

Veterans idea isn't bad ONLY IF they meet certain training, medically cleared and are qualified. Something has to change or each month another school will hit the headlines.

Most of these shootings in schools are done by intelligence agencies whose job it is to advance the globalist (Communist) agenda of disarming the population.

Time to wake up folks.

The US Government is a criminal cabal

Joe, I am 72 and plenty healthy enough to be in a Wicomico County School with a Firearm to Protect our communities Children.
I would gladly participate in a Program to Protect Students ! Its time to be proactive just as you describe.

You don't have to have Teachers walking around the classroom with a side arm. They can keep it in a locked drawer. Be creative for once.

9:02 Who? The janitor, the lunch lady or the office secretary? If it is the Admin., there are only a few in each school and they are all in the same office away from the students. Better off with armed security guards/cops.

Anonymous said...

You can protect the students with auto locking doors that are bullet proof/armored. Every teacher has a key fob that activates look down. When activated every classroom is sealed. The sector of the school where the alarm is activated seals all hallways and stairwells thereby isolating the shooter. Police and admin. can override locks to extricate students and eliminate the threat.

10:35 You can't even get a carry permit in MD. What are you going to do, take your clothes off and scare the shooter to death?

Think we all are trying to be creative as well as finding a solution that's pretty much unsolvable. Some want guns in school (shown as a side arm for deterrent purposes), some don't want guns in their kids schools - regardless that the bad guy will bring a gun. Cross roads offers a zero solution. Stalemate and another school gets TV headlines soon enough.

Reminds me of the trial/error problems of Salisbury. EVERYONE has the solution, but the same cast of characters with the same "disbeliefs" somehow, someway, keep getting elected.

Talk about insanity times infinity!!!

Socially speaking, school shootings have been on the minds of most since Columbine (next year will be TWENTY years) and yet nothing constructive has been accomplished. LOTS and LOTS of talk, but kids still killing kids!

Anonymous said...

Hahaha yeah, WE'RE the crazy ones.

There is really only one solution that no one can argue. Just secure schools like government office buildings, interior concert venues, and airports. There is not one reason schools can't be as secure as court houses. It will take money, but that is about the only thing we can all agree that it is money well spent. It's simple, if you bring weapons, you won't get past the entrance, and likely will be shot. Pepper in a few trained armed school officials, like air marshals at certain points with installing possible panic switches, like fire alarms. Best ideas I've heard and have thought about.

Given the Monkey see, monkey do attitude of these twisted teen psychos, all schools should be on high alert for the remaining few weeks. Take the summer to implement the same protection Nancy Pelosi receives at her office, and have it ready by Labor day. Simple?

5:25, here is your argument. Gun free zones are the target here, DUH.

You just lost the argument.

Food for thought.
