Drinking Four Cups Of Coffee A Day Could Help The Heart Grow Stronger And Repair Itself From Damage, Study Suggests

Pensioners should drink four cups of coffee a day to protect and repair their heart muscle, research suggests.

Levels of caffeine, equivalent to drinking four cups of coffee, could help to protect healthy blood vessels and repair the heart after a heart attack, a study claims.

The stimulant boosts a protein known to be important in regenerating heart cells, and which could also protect them from damage.

Caffeine is thought to lower the risk for diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and stroke, but the reasons for this are not well understood.

German researchers now think caffeine may make cells which line the arteries and veins healthier, improving their ability to resist or recover from damage.

The scientists say their findings ‘should lead to better strategies for protecting heart muscle’, and another expert called the results ‘very interesting’.

I remember doctors telling us that four cups of coffee every day would give us heart attacks. Going back to the 1950s, there were also doctors who said that smoking was harmless.

I've been drinking four cups, or more, of coffee a day, for the last forty years, and I have high blood pressure, AND type 2 diabetes. Coffee didn't keep me from getting those two diseases.

They are leaving out the key ingredient...royal. Coffee royal, always put a splash of hi test in the cup. That will make you live longer and happy too.

Are you responding to my 10:23 AM comment? If so, I drink my coffee black, with no additives, no sugar, no anything, just pure black coffee. I can't even remember my last donut. It's been years. My junk food doesn't include sweets (I'm diabetic, remember?) Now that you know, quit trying to accuse someone of something by innuendo. I'm saying the coffee has not stopped me from coming down with the things the article says coffee will prevent. Have you always had that ego problem?
