A Viewer Writes: Peninsula Regional Medical Center

How incapable is Peninsula Regional Medical Center? Someone fell out on a sidewalk in front of the hospital. Here’s the kicker, even though they’re a “Trauma Center”, they called 911 and Salisbury EMS tended to the patient. I wouldn’t let them to take care of my dog. The ER is supposed to respond with their EMS stretcher, but I guess there were more pressing issues.

I wonder if Salisbury EMS will charge for a transport.

This is how it is everywhere not just PRMC, even if someone has a heart attack walking from their car to the ER, they're required to call 911 for transport.

Fell out of what? If there is a car accident on Rt.13 in front of the hospital should the ER doctors leave their patients and rush outside to the accident? You should go to a healer and get some potions and poultices when you get a serious illness like cancer.

They don't want to work as a team. They don't want to touch anyone if that is not listed in their job duties. They don't know what other duties mean in their job duties.

Another ignorant shore billie complaining about nothing.

You can thank obama care you all thought was the greatest thing next to sliced bread!!!!! You all asked for it, you all wanted it, and now you got it... What's the matter, don't you like it??? I mean when you demonized me and everyone else who told you this would happen, this would be what obama care does, no one wanted to listen, they think because the news told them one thing, US people who use our brains and research, didn't know jack squat!!! Yet I am right time in and time out, and I was right on the premiums that would rise but no one listened to that either, so how do you like your high premiums, high deductibles, and less coverage each year now?????

I guess US conspiracy theorist, as you call us, must be smarter than the likes of all of you seeing how we told you this and it happened exactly as we said it would... Maybe next time you will take heed instead of running off at the mouth acting like you know anything about nothing...

9:25 you are correct! In this world the threat of "sue happy" individuals they have to protect themselves just like a homeowner....sad but correct!

For what it's worth, my son was born there, and the experience was wonderful. The staff was exceptionally helpful, courteous and attentive.

Recently, we had a health scare with my son, that referred us to the ER. We were seen quickly, and the staff was great, and our care was also very good.

Truthfully, I don't really have anything bad to say about them. I guess it's like any other business.. if you aren't making mistakes, you aren't working... I am sure there are some folks who have had a bad experience too... however my family has had great care from them, and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again.

@10:16

I'm no fan of the Affordable Care Act, but what does this have to do with that?

Anonymous said...

I dont believe that statement.

10:16 Obamacare only covers 11 million people in the US who could not get insurance through traditional plans ( self employed or not smart enough to work at a job with benefits). Stop blaming our broken healthcare system on Obama. It was broken before him. Blame the lawyers and middlemen for the sky high prices.

If a medical emergency occurs on hospital property an emergency response team is required to respond. Not doing so is an EMTALA violation.

They aren’t a real trauma center. They’ve killed plenty by claiming to be a trauma center.

@10:16 ---- you realize this is a conservative "news" blog?... Most people on here did not want Obama-Care. Conservatives are the people who typically deny science and fact, so you are really misconstrued. Are you conservative? But either way, this post is extremely convoluted and hypocritical.
With that said, this is an extremely common practice. A patient cannot be seen without going through triage; therefore, the ER medical professionals cannot touch/see/treat the patient in question without them first going through triage. Conspiracies are awesome, but this is not one.

P.S. I know who you are. Get back to work.

If someone from the hospital went to help this person he would be a “citizen” helping since it was not IN the hospital where the helper would be an “employee”. Then the “Good Samaritan” laws might apply. It’s complicated, but blame the lawyers, not the hospital..

Evidently the sidewalk isn't considered their property.

I recently to PRMC emergrncy room complaining about chest pains, they wanted me to sit with about 50 other people waiting to be seen. I raised hell and said if I die of a heart attack because of their stupidity my family would sue the hospital and notify every TV station and news paper there is. I literly had to shout that I need to see a doctor NOW. I was pissed, it turned out not to be a heart attack but the doctors at first thought it was. Their admissons people there are totally incompetent.

PRMC gives everyone leaving a free gift, a Staff Infection!

Ask the administrator about the retired minister of the Princess Anne Baptist Church who coming from the Cardiac Lab was dropped from the gurney onto the floor while being transferred to his bed. At age 86 the next day he died. His life was fraught with complications from acute diabetes coupled with accompanying heart problems and his life was curtailed by PGH while in their care.
