POLICE BODY CAMERAS CAN THREATEN CIVIL RIGHTS OF BLACK AND BROWN PEOPLE, NEW REPORT SAYS

The number of U.S. police departments outfitting their officers with body cameras increases each year, but the cameras can pose a threat to civil rights if the departments fail to set rules that govern when officers review footage from their cameras, according to a new report.

The vast majority of the nation’s biggest police departments allow officers to watch footage from body cameras whenever they want, including before they write their incident reports or make statements, said the report, which was released Tuesday by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights.

Well, this week's earlier post on the NAACP "Reverend" showed exactly they are needed.

Are liberals and the "entitled ones" insane or what?

In my opinion, isn't this what the cameras are for; to capture what really happened and not just a person's recollection of the events? I say let the officer watch the video.

they (african americans) wanted the cameras to capture all the so called ‘police brutality.’ now it appears that all their (africans) shenanigans are being caught on camera, and now all the sudden, they cant just scream out ‘racist! police brutality!!!’ anymore, because the cameras are showing who the REAL racists are!
LOVE IT!!!

The rationale for the cameras is to record what occurs between officer and civilian. The rush to adopt them was fueled by an undercurrent that cops were overstepping and that civilians were being victimized.

The cops have always had rules and regs, even if they were bending them on occasion. Not so for civilians they have to deal with.

We have now begun to see a lot more of just exactly what cops are confronted with, even in those instances where cops don't handle it perfectly. John and Jane Q. Public are often out-of-control idiots.

Letting the cop review the video while or before writing a report will just ensure more consistency between the two documents, and since the camera is an impartial witness it should lead to better results all around.

IMHO, this grousing comes from those who view cops as bad and civilians as angels. The video is dispelling both of those notions.

So the cameras have debunked most of the false charges by minorities and this was not their intended purpose.

Now that cameras document events as they occur and not their wildly false claims of discrimination, POC are struggling to figure out how to deal with truth and actual facts.

Of course it will. They hate the truth.
