Boy Hit by Truck During School Walkout on Guns

EL PASO, Texas - University Medical Center has announced a memorial for the Parkland Middle School student struck and killed Friday.

Police say 11-year-old Jonathan Benko was taking part in Parkland Middle School's organized walkout when he and a group of students left the designated walkout area. Police say around 10:30 Friday morning, the group crossed Loop 375 then attempted to cross it again. Benko was the last in the group to cross and was struck by a Ford F150.

Benko sustained serious injuries and was taken to UMC where he died.

Officials say Benko's mother works as a Registered Nurse in UMC's Emergency Department and his uncle, Michael Benko, is also an employee at UMC, where he works as a Respiratory Therapist.

“All of us at UMC are heartbroken by the loss of a child belonging to one of our Associates, especially a child as young as Jonathan,” said Jacob Cintron, UMC President & CEO. “As a father, I can only imagine how hard this must be for Ashley and her family. She is also one of our family at UMC. Our support, thoughts and prayers are with her and her family throughout this difficult time.”

Tragedy it is. So the Parkland Middle Schools "organized walkout" against guns got a child killed. Good idea wasn't it?

The teachers and administrators responsible for allowing an 11 year old kid to go outside to protest a political issue (like he knows jack about anything) and GET KILLED should be in jail.
We send our kids to school to learn. Not be a pawn in someone's political drama.
I can't believe it.
Kee cheering.

Hogg will want F150s banned now!

It was a matter of time before something like this happened.
Now, I guess the school will be blamed?

I hope they sue the school for allowing a student out of regular class time to do such a stupid thing. School is for teaching not for protesting. They can do that on their own time.

11:38 Most 11 year olds today are smarter than you. Just because you were still in 4th grade at 11, doesn't mean today's kids are like you were.

Like the old saying...stay in school.

Some of our children need reminders...there should have been a parent permission slip sent out the day before the walk out. I know from my experience..my son at 11 did not make the wisest choices and so when he was going on. A field trip...I would go over rules the night before and in the morning of, I would go over rules again with him...some kids need that...heck...they send out permission slips to watch certain movies at school, they send out permission slips for sex Ed....they should have sent out permission slips to participate in the walk out...poor choice on the teachers and school administrators.

Another gem of knowledge from his moms basement..appears Ignorance is bliss among anti trump, anti gun, anti american its just for the kids crowd. 2:53 is just Another moron who thinks minors should dicate policy. In my experience (not just the shore) Most current HS grads these days cant even add or understand the constitution, but we should listen to these commie funded agitators?

why didn't the parents instill respect for the 2 nd? if so then the kid would never have joined the protest. shame but then one less snowflake in the world?
