16-year-old girl turns herself in to police and is charged with murder

A 16-year-old girl who turned herself in to police has been charged with murder for her alleged part in a teenage robbery plot.

Teenager Ziaya Chanel Jackson turned herself in to Mecklenburg County Jail after Charlotte woman Maria Eduvigig Echeverria de Gomez, 36, was robbed and killed.

Gomez was shot Tuesday morning outside of her home in east Charlotte, North Carolina.
