Peter Richardson Obituary

Salisbury: Peter “Pete” Edward Richardson, 67, of Salisbury passed away at his home on Thursday, December 14, 2017. Born December 31, 1949, in Salisbury, he was the son of the late Vaughn E. Richardson and Mary Jane McMonigal Richardson. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Connie Gibson Richardson; one devoted daughter, Dana Catherine Richardson; two sisters, J. Maureen McAllister and Vicki Heland and husband Ken; a special mother-in-law, Bonnie Gibson; two sisters-in-law, Catherine Reddish, and Anne Marie Kanwisher and husband Bill; brother-in-law, Vincent Gibson and wife, Melissa. He was a devoted uncle to Colin and wife Stephanie and Kevin McAllister, Hannah, Elijah, and Micah Reddish, Amanda and Mark Gibson, Sara, Catherine, and Laura Kanwisher, Ava, Eliza, Oliver, and Everett McAllister. In addition to his immediate family, there are so many people whose lives he touched. Pete was a 1968 graduate of James M. Bennett High School and later graduated from Wheeling University. For 40 years, Pete owned and operated Pete Richardson Auction Sales in Willards. He credited much of his success to his dedicated team of employees. He was a member of the Wicomico County Liquor Control Board, Wicomico County Soil Conservation District, Past Board Member of Hebron Savings Bank, Life-time member of the Salisbury Gun Club, the Wicomico Yacht Club, Green Hill Country Club, Salisbury Elk’s Lodge, Salisbury Moose Lodge, Maryland Standardbred Breeders Association, and the East Side Men’s Club. Pete was an avid hunter, horseman, and fisherman, and Clemson Tiger fan. To all that knew Pete, he was mostly known as a legendary storyteller. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Vaughn Richardson, Jr., and Michael Richardson. He will be sadly missed by his loyal pugs, Teddy and Winston. A Life Well Celebrated service to honor Pete’s life will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2017, 11:00 AM, at The Fountain’s Conference Center, 1800 Sweetbay Drive, Salisbury. The Reverend George Patterson will officiate. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at The Fountains Conference Center. Burial will be private. Pete loved his community and donated to many different organizations. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Pete Richardson Charitable Fund, c/o Melodie Carter at the Hebron Savings Bank, 543 Riverside Dr., Salisbury, MD 21801, allowing the family to continue Pete’s generosity throughout the community for years to come.

I knew Little Pete while attending Brandywine College 1973-1974, and was indeed an amazing storyteller, many memories, will never forget him
