...HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING... * AREAS AFFECTED: CENTRAL AND EASTERN VIRGINIA...NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA...AND THE LOWER EASTERN SHORE. * MAXIMUM FORECAST HEAT INDEX VALUES: 105 to 109 degrees. * TIMING: Peak heat indices are expected during the afternoon hours, but some locations near the coast may see values peak by late morning before the seabreeze develops in the afternoon. * IMPACTS: PROLONGED EXPOSURE OR ANY STRENUOUS ACTIVITY MAY LEAD TO HEAT RELATED ILLNESSES THAT REQUIRE IMMEDIATE MEDICAL ATTENTION. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Heat Advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are possible.
