Resort, county ready to help with Folk Festival

Beating 34 other cities vying for the chance to host the National Folk Festival for the next three years, Salisbury Mayor Jake Day announced Tuesday the event would be coming to the crossroads of the peninsula beginning in September 2018.

The National Folk Festival is the nation’s longest-running traditional arts event: a three-day, free, outdoor, multicultural celebration of music, dance and traditional arts and culture, which historically draws upwards of 150,000 visitors, along with an economic impact of approximately $30 million a year.

During the festival and while the visitors are here, Worcester County tourism officials and business leaders stand ready to help them find places to stay, eat, shop and play.

“People come from all 50 states and many countries every year for this event,” Day said. “Hotels in every town will fill up, and we are grateful to the Town of Ocean City and Worcester County for partnering so well in the planning and timing for the event once we found out we won.”

Bahaha!! Fake Day now knows that Salisbury can't handle a large event. He jumped the gun on this one and when the organizers find out that Salisbury is a crime ridden Ghetto with multiple shootings and murders Ocean City will grab the festival. What a total Douche that Boi Mare is.

Not only that but the draw is due to the fact that this is usually held in bigger cities with bigger populations in surrounding areas.

You mean it's coming to the "crossroads of the peninsula" and not "the 'Bury'?
Finally some class is coming back to Salisbury! The 'Bury is so low class and ghetto.

Call for Boycott! Drop the SURJ call for the removal of the HISTORICAL marker in Salisbury or boycott the festival.
This attracts a lot of people from all over and all walks of life. Many who come for the gospel, the blue grass, cowboy and the western and other types of music and traditional dancing are PATRIOTS and do not approve of trying to rewrite history.
Spread the word that this is the kind of city Salisbury is! Diversity is their way of thinking or no way.
Boycott The 2018 National Folk Festival!

With all the murders and shootings they might rethink it.

How stupid are you people? Don't you get tired of wishing failure on this community? This is a good thing.

This music festival is free but they do have people going around with big buckets to collect donations. I would advise to have something equivalent to a SWAT Team strategically placed on rooftops and throughout the venue and the city as a whole. You know the second this was announced there are thugs already salivating looking to score a quick buck with unsuspecting festival goers, workers and volunteers.

assumption on your part.

You are all hate filled and foolish. Anything positive that happens or comes to Salisbury is horrible! Quick, find some way to discount whatever it is! Failure and misery to all! Yay!

Don't be so silly 8:41. News Flash the posters to this site are not by anyone's stretch of the imagination hate filled or foolish. Truth tellers and realists are what they are!
Remember all the hoopla over Headquarters Live? Most on this site said it would fail and guess what TOLD YOU SO.
Now back to the matter at hand! How is this going to help Salisbury? I'll answer for you! It's not! It's a short term benefit (maybe a week)for a few-hotels, restaurants, some stores, etc-all SHORT TERM.
BUT it will cost tax payers a fortune.
The sad part is you people who settle for so little and get so excited over what amounts to NOTHING. It is YOU who is a failure and miserable with your low expectations.
Certainly if it were announced a business was moving to the city which will employ 20-25 people with good paying jobs-you know long term economic development--- then the people on this site would be praising the news.
All this is is blowing smoke up the arses of people who settle for less. The other sad thing is they (and you) don't even know your expectations are low.
