Coach Harbaugh Donates $1.5K In Hats To Soldiers In Afghanistan

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Ravens Coach John Harbaugh receives $1,5000 every year from sports company New Era at the NFL League Meetings to spend on personal use or giveaways throughout the season. This year, Coach Harbaugh decided to put the money to special use and bought hats for troops serving overseas.

Harbaugh’s money was used to buy 154 New Era hats to give away to soldiers in Afghanistan.

“Certainly can’t underestimate how appreciative we are of the great sacrifices made by our military members overseas, and so our goal with the caps was to try and brighten the days of as many Army men and women as we could,” Harbaugh says in a report from the Ravens.

He didn’t buy just Ravens hats, but team caps from all the major leagues, including NFL, MLB, and NBA and colleges too.

How much is $1,5000?

He could have kept the $1,500 too but he didn't. When did you last donate any significant amount of money to the troops?

Everytime i pay my taxes 9:00 and with my prior service. $1500 that was not even his money. Wow what a angel he is. NOT!

If I worked for a billionaire I would donate 1500k in hats my boss paid for

Taxes are not donating. You must be another whacked out vet that could not make it once not being told when to get up, eat, sleep. I bet the troops that got hats appreciate his donation more than yours.

For armed forces members who receive a hat, it's a small bonus and positive gesture.

But who ever decided to publicize it should have their head examined because the sum of $1500 is trifling to someone earning at his level, estimated at $7,000,000 annually, or $3365 per hour for a 40 hour week. Makes him look cheap for not reaching into his actual pocket to supplement the 'free money' from his sponsor to purchase their products.

I believe it was one thousand and five hundred dollars worth of hats.

10:58...obviously you never served. Hey, are you still living at home so mommy can tell you when to get up, eat, sleep? No, taxes are not donating; glad you can make that distinction, but they do pay the salaries and benefits of the service folks.

7:46 Nope, 50 years, old retired and was too smart to join the military. Donate regularly to veterans and other less fortunate persons, what have you done for others other than take up space?
