Trump Reverses Gun Regulation Implemented on Obama’s Last Day

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will allow lead ammunition for hunting again

The Trump administration on Thursday reversed a gun regulation that was implemented on the very last day of the Obama administration.

Newly sworn-in Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke withdrew an order banning the use of lead ammunition and fishing tackle on certain federal lands issued by the previous head of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Jan. 19, 2017.

"It's time to put ammunition back where it belongs; in the hands of hunters," Zinke said in a release.

The order had come under criticism from gun groups for its sweeping impact, speedy implementation, and lack of input from industry groups and hunters.

"This was a reckless, unilateral overreach that would have devastated the sportsmen's community," Chris Cox, head of the National Rifle Association's lobbying arm, said in a statement. "The Obama administration failed to consult with state fish and wildlife agencies or national angling and hunting organizations in issuing this order. This was not a decision based on sound scientific evidence—it was a last second attack on traditional ammunition and our hunting heritage."

Former U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service director Dan Ashe issued the directive banning lead ammunition because, he maintained, the widely used ammunition is dangerous to animals. "Exposure to lead ammunition and fishing tackle has resulted in harmful effects to fish and wildlife species," he said in the order.

Well, truthfully, "Exposure to lead ammunition and fishing tackle has resulted in harmful effects to fish and wildlife species," is correct; however, I think it might because that's what sportsmen use to hunt and catch the critters. It's not the lead in the ammo and tackle, it's the hunters and fishermen that are harmful to the fish and wildlife species. The lead wouldn't hurt them if we weren't actively killing them with it.

Obama and his administration tried to deny our second amendment rights by gun control, then having his government agencies buy up all the ammo that was available on the market (remember when you couldn't buy a box of 22's?), and then banning the lead ammo. Hillary would have continued the same objectives as Obama, i.e. the disarming of America. Thank God we we able to elect Trump, and no wonder the Democrats are so pissed off. They though they had it made with Hillary, and that they could continue their march towards total gun control in America. Total gun control to a Democrat means they have them, and the rest of us don't.

Good. Just more Worthless Regulation that makes it Difficult to live a good life. Thank you President Trump that this is now gone too! Liberals are crying in their beer this afternoon for so many reasons but mostly because they are Starting to Understand that America is back on the Right Track and that they will likely never win another election ever again.
