QUEENSTOWN, Md. —Some of the dozens of dogs that were rescued from a dog meat farm in South Korea have arrived in Maryland.
Humane Society International rescued 46 dogs, who arrived in the U.S. on Saturday. Some were taken to shelters in New York and Pennsylvania, and 11 were taken to the Animal Welfare League of Queen Anne's County in Queenstown.
"They were just kind of kept in the sheds with a lot of kennels on a lot of dirt," said Kirstyn Northrop-Cobb, the shelter's manager.
Northrop-Cobb said that for some of the dogs, their arrival on Maryland's Eastern Shore marked their first time on grass. She said either the dogs were going to become someone's meal or possibly work as puppy mill dogs.

Cheaper Spay/Neuter seems to be the
answer for over population
in the U.S. I hope our H.S
here will be able to offer that in time.
Many States already do.
They serve them at Viet Namease restaurants also.
Imagine if a Hindu Cow Rescue League came here from Jaipur and stole cows from a stockyard- same thing.
You know, in some countries, dogs are just dogs, cats are just cats, horses are just horses, and animals are just animals. They will eat any animal, regardless of species, and even eat insects, which are a delicacy to them, because they can be so hard to catch. Who are we to judge what they eat? Rescuing "food" from being eaten in other countries? Strange use of resources. Let's go get their chickens and pigs, and find homes for them too.
12:02 PM I made the same comment on their facebook page, we have so many in the US that need homes, why bring them from other countries. Their reply was, it will bring peoples attention to them and maybe help adopted out more animals...BS to me.
If you study the Jindo breed; it's not a dog that I would want or around any children. Not your typical lab or golden.
They are beautiful but I agree with 2:19 that they should only go to experienced dog handlers.
Was stationed in Korea in 2012 and Dog is a regular meat on the menu of many fine restaurants. Listed by Breed and priced that way. I had Boxer one time, and Pekinese another time, but weren't bad, just stringy and strong flavored. As a Marine we eat a lot of strange stuff!
Dog jerky is delicious.
