The Five Worst Things about Obamacare

In passing Obamacare, its supporters promised the moon. Obamacare was allegedly going to cost $938 billion over ten years, result in 23 million people getting insurance through its exchanges as of 2017, reduce the typical family's premiums by $2,500 a year, and make sure that if you liked your health plan and doctor, you could keep your health plan and doctor.

Seven years later, Obamacare is projected to cost $1.938 trillion over ten years (exactly $1 trillion more), only 9 million people have insurance through its exchanges as of 2017 (just 40 percent of the original CBO projection), the typical family's premiums have exploded, and millions of people who liked their plans lost their plans, as Obamacare effectively banned them. Many of them lost their doctors as well.

But since we're now a fair ways removed from those fateful days in 2010 when the Democrats rammed Obamacare through the Senate (with no votes to spare) and the House (with three votes to spare) over unanimous Republican opposition, it's perhaps worth offering a quick refresher course on why, exactly, Obamacare is so bad. Here are arguably the five worst things about it:

The cost of my phone nsurance has doubled. I go to see my rector (an in person office visit to be diagnosed) and the insurance company doesn't want to fill the Rx prescribed by the doctor for a generic eye drop. They have the audacity to suggest that I try a different drug that they name. This even though I have a history of the condition for which the medication was prescribed. The $200 generic and hold not be covered without prior authorization. After waiting nearly 2 weeks while the condition persisted untreated, they finally authorized the coverage. A few days later I received a letter from the insurance company stating that they would not authorize the medication. The same thing has happened with other medications in recent months. Thank goodness I am a generally healthy person, but my same coverage is now worse than it has ever been.

I guess my family isn't typical. My family plan was $135 a week with a $250 deductible before Obamacare. Now it's $250 a week with a $6000 deductible. I've written our congressman a few times over it. And now that the Republicans have control of all three branches they still are doing nothing about it. All those corrupt bastards in Washington must have their hands in the cookie jar to not want to do anything about it.
