Dr. Bartley Griffith, professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, brings home an approximate annual salary of $881,000 — the largest in the state. That’s up from the $867,000 Griffith earned in 2015 when he also carried the state’s largest paycheck.

This article is incorrect. The highest public salaries in Maryland are the football and basketball coaches at the University of Maryland. Both are over 2 million a year.
I can't believe the surgeon / professor makes more money than the football coach? What's up with that?
In almost every state in the union, the college football coach is the highest paid state employee.
Them college degrees ain't worth the paper they are printed on!
