HEAT ADVISORY FROM 12PM EDT THU UNTIL 8PM EDT THU

* HEAT INDEX VALUES... 105 TO 107... THE HIGHEST VALUES WILL OCCUR IN THE MID TO LATE AFTERNOON.

A HEAT ADVISORY MEANS THAT A PERIOD OF HOT TEMPERATURES IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF HOT TEMPERATURES AND HIGH HUMIDITY WILL COMBINE TO CREATE A SITUATION IN WHICH HEAT ILLNESSES ARE POSSIBLE. DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS... STAY IN AN AIR-CONDITIONED ROOM... STAY IN THE SHADE IF POSSIBLE... AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORS.

TO REDUCE RISK DURING OUTDOOR WORK... THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS SCHEDULING FREQUENT REST BREAKS IN SHADED OR AIR CONDITIONED ENVIRONMENTS. ANYONE OVERCOME BY HEAT SHOULD BE MOVED TO A COOL AND SHADED LOCATION. HEAT STROKE IS AN EMERGENCY - CALL 9 1 1.

Editor's Note:  Please check on your friends, family members and neighbors to make sure they are ok.  Also check on pets to make sure they have shade and fresh cold water and bring them inside if you can.   There has been no notice that Wicomico county will open a cooling station as of yet.
