A Viewer Writes: Public Information Act Request

Good morning Joe, it's been stated several times now about the problems and mishandling of several situations within Salisbury city government.

Here's my question if there is so much much dissatisfaction with the way city administrator STEVENSON was appointed by ex-mayor Ireton and continues to be permitted to hold the position under Day can a request be made under Salisbury's city charter public information act request to bring out in the open Mr Stevenson's troubled past with a dishonorable discharge from military for failed drug tests. And then to fail another while a city employee working on the city's maintenance crew? Why was this man first of all hired with a dishonorable discharge for drug use but to fail one while a city employee to leave city employment and come back and be re-hired again only to be given the highest position in city government when others wouldn't even still be employed it been hired in the first place. Can his military record and disciplinary records while a city of Salisbury employee be mandatory made public to expose this injustice??

I don't follow Salisbury politics very much but keep seeing comments about this employee. Where there is smoke, could there be fire? Could it be the opinions or comments are made by the one same person. I don't know, is it worth "vetting" (term used today). I don't have a clue, maybe the employee would want to clear this up himself. If he is qualified carry on,if not go back to maintenance or hit the road.

If it's anybody that shouldn't be in a position that they're in it would Howard Landon.

You have to have something more than a failed drug test to get a Dishonorable Discharge. It's more likely that he got an Administrative Discharge after a Captain's Mast or under an automatic test-failure rule.
For somebody to get a Dishonorable Discharge, there has to be a more compelling reason, such as a violent crime, a major theft of goods, sale or distribution of illicit drugs, purposeful mishandling of information, multiple DUI's, etc.

Just curious what college did he go to and what was his degree in?

Maybe someone from the city could comment about the qualifications of the current administrator and put the questions to rest. But, but, they don't read or go near here. The lady that ran the ship a couple terms ago forbid employees to go near this blog. You remember her, the publisher use to post those great photos of Mrs.T

As someone who used to attend Ireton's Roundtable Meetings with neighborhoods once a month. This guy is a first class ---. He treats any woman with questions by either ignoring them or hollering at them or threatening them after meetings. He did it with me and other women. He is a bully, never prepared to answer questions, involving why he never followed up on things he gave us the time table for, and then when we would ask what is happening with this--he would fly off and say he was being harassed. Ask Louise Smith he in one meeting looked coldly at me and said " I will address your question after the meeting". After the meeting he called me a bully and said I was harassing him. He is Mr no answer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well it looks like you have brought it out in the open with your request, comments and comments of others.

what, if anything, is true remains to be seen. sounds like at least two on here has a personal agenda.

BTW, are those accusations of wrong doing statements of fact or just your opinions? Rumors? How would you know anything about what you are accusing others of doing?
