Report: 60 Percent of Newspaper Jobs Lost Since Internet

The US newspaper industry has shed more than half its jobs since 1990, losses which have only been partly offset by gains in online media.

Official US Labor Department data showed the newspaper sector lost 271,800 jobs in the period from January 1990 to March 2016, or 59.7 percent of the total over the past 26 years.

The numbers, first cited in a report by the news website Engadget, confirm the massive shift to digital media that has hammered traditional newspapers.

It's because of the Blogs. People would rather read the TRUTH.

As long as the papers use "articles" from the such as Gaines Hawkins and Susan Parker - while firing Brice Stump - they will continue to die.

You may as well say all the jobs are gone, because a formally prestigious job is now held by underqualified, unmotivated and underpaid kids. Not only that almost all these papers are now owned by four or five companies who put their own spin on articles to fit their own agendas.

4:44...well I don't know about blog number but I can say thank goodness for being able to come here to see all sides. I'm on the "going out" side of my life and it is refreshing to be able to read all sides. TV is still telling their own version of the truth.
