Israel’s Ben Gurion Airport to Showcase World-Leading Anti-Terror Security

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) – Airport security experts from dozens of countries plan to take a page out of Israel’s book in the coming weeks, when its international airport plays host to visitors from 40 countries who want to learn how the small, beleaguered country has avoided hijacking and airport attacks for the past 45 years.

Officials from Israel’s Ministry of Transportation told CNN recently that about 10 flights a day at the country’s only major airport, Ben Gurion near Tel Aviv, are flagged as suspicious. Systems for checking and verifying flights take place on a 24/7 basis at various points in the process of travel and at the airport.

The Israeli system, known as the “rings of steel,” operates an an airport that saw almost 16 million people pass through in 2015, with passenger traffic steadily increasing over the past five years.

No aircraft heading to or from Israel has been successfully attacked since 1972, when PLO terrorists hijacked a Belgian aircraft en route to Tel Aviv. It landed at what was then known as Lod airport, where a group of elite commandos including later prime ministers Ehud Barak and Binyamin Netanyahu stormed the plane and rescued the hostages.

I have said it before on this site. That airport is top notch. When our children were smaller we traveled a lot. We have been to a lot of foreign airports and this one is the best. Their tactics I am afraid would never "fly" here in the USA. I believe our society will not acclimate to the precautions that we must take bc of the terrors that besiege our world. By that I mean, every one every day is pissed that security took so long, or the TSA agent patted them down. In my experiences this is not how the rest of the world reacts to safety precautions. Me, I will gladly stand in line to help ensure the safety of airline travel.

I can tell you one thing from my personal experiences of traveling abroad, we as a country are way to scared to profile. Sometimes the reality of the situation calls for it and we need to get over it and catch up with the rest of the world as far as airport security goes.

El-Al Airlines and the Israelis do it right! I would much rather be profiled than dead.

We cannot trust our own government enough to give them this power.

worked for the military went through this airport not to long ago. They don't mess around. Not intrusive but they will question you multiple times and make damn sure you are legit. the fools who work for tsa aren't smart enough to do this kind of interrogation.
well maybe they could but they would only question old grandmothers, children and nuns!
