Assateague Island Pony Forever Stamps To Be Issued This Week

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — In celebration of the National Park Service’s centennial this year, the Assateague Island National Seashore ponies will be featured on a special edition Forever stamp.

A photograph by Tim Fitzharris of Fayetteville, Arkansas was used to create the stamp, which will be issued June 2, along with 15 others celebrating NPS.

Other National Parks featured on the new stamps: Acadia National Park, Arches National Park, Bandelier National Monument, Carlsbad Caverns National Park, Everglades National Park, Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve, Grand Canyon National Park, Gulf Islands National Seashore, Haleakalā National Park, Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens, Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, Mount Rainier National Park, San Francisco Maritime National Historic Park, Theodore Roosevelt National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

I just wish the prize had gone to a local artist. It is very nice.
