The Anti Trump State?

Donald Trump should be wrapping up the GOP presidential nomination by now. He has a nearly 200 delegate lead on Ted Cruz, who is all but mathematically eliminated from the race.

But he is stumbling in the state that is set to vote next, Wisconsin. The latest poll has Trump down 10 points to Cruz.

Why is Trump struggling in Wisconsin, a blue state with heavy manufacturing, which is his base? Part of it is some unfortunate remarks Trump has made on everything from Ted Cruz’s wife to abortion. But the biggest reason is that Wisconsin’s conservatives are largely supportive of the GOP leadership.

Politico reports:

Because if Wisconsin is where Trump’s wave finally breaks, it will be in no small part because of Charlie Sykes.

Sykes is Wisconsin’s leading conservative radio voice after 23 years on the air and a leader of the #NeverTrump brigade since long back before it had a hash-tag. He might also be the single biggest impediment to Trump's winning Wisconsin’s primary next Tuesday and putting the GOP nomination on ice.

[...]But if Cruz does ultimately find fertile soil in Wisconsin, it’ll be due largely to Sykes’ spadework and the anti-Trump broadsides he’s been delivering almost daily to an audience of 100,000 conservatives in southeastern Wisconsin going back to last summer.

“Talk radio’s impact can’t really be understated,” Batzel said. “And it’s first and foremost anti-Trump. There have been such tough battles here with the bargaining reforms, the recalls and Walker’s re-election, and talk radio has been a key outlet for informing the voters and informing the electorate.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus hails from Wisconsin, as does House Speaker Paul Ryan. Another reason is that conservative activists and Republican Party leaders are on far friendlier terms than in other states.

If Trump is defeated in Wisconsin, can Cruz replicate this kind of effort in future states? Most likely not. Most of the remaining states should be far more favorable to Donald Trump than Wisconsin.

What some people just cannot get through their heads is that Trump is bringing people into the Republican party to vote for him. He is also able to draw from the Democrats...you know Hilary's main base. This is what will make him President. Cruz will lose in a landslide to Hilary, there is no question about it. He cannot draw like Trump can. If all these people back Cruz (someone who has little chance of being our next President) this opens the door for a felon to get into the White House. The Supreme Court will be split 9-2 in the dems favor.

I have heard that Kasich is the answer. The answer to what. He is part of the problem and has been for many years now. He is just another talking suit who will say anything to get into office, but too weak to stand up for us.

Folks, Trump is our only hope. Is he perfect, absolutely not. I hate some of the things he says. But remember he does not have the political experience the rest have. He will tell you what the problems are and the solution to fix them. He is not afraid to call BS on some things. Does he do it incorrectly at time...yes. But he does it. This country needs a strong brash voice who will not get run over in order to turn it around. Trying to usurp the will of millions of voters will cause a mass exodus from the party. I for one will not vote for Kasich. I will also not vote for someone like Cruz. No, I will not vote for a felon also, so I will just sit it out for the first time in many cycles. People think Trumps voters will back Cruz or another candidate. The establishment will rue the day they try to force someone down the people's throat. This is not their country, it is the People's country and I beleive their voice needs to be heard.

Scouts split 9-2.... Lol. Inform yourself! That sounds like something trump would say! However, I do agree with you on the "will of the people". If the establishment tries to twist the nomination process it will be lights out in November. By the way, Cruz is far from an establishment choice. they hate home! They would much rather have Trump whom they can work a deal with.

Trump is the only one who can beat Hilary! Wake up America before it is to late! People hear Trump because he does speak up! Thank God someone is speaking up for America!!! How can anyone give a vote to a proven liar and think she will make the country better for them? All she cares about is herself and filling her pockets full of our hard earned money!!!
