Delmar Middle/High School In Hightened Alert

Delmar Middle & High School are in a heightened alert due to a security issue. No outside activity.

UPDATE: Due to a suspect in the area, law enforcement chose to put the school on alert as their suspect is believed to be in that area.

Delmar Elementary is NOT under the same alert.

Heard from someone who works there, student with a gun inside school. No shooting, no active situation, just some dumb kid who brought a gun to school. This is what I know so far.

Funny it said above the elementary was not included ... I called the school they were included and I didn't get the call from the school until 11:46 a.m. almost an hour after I saw this and called the school !

That's bull crap. Tell me I can't pick up my kid and watch what happens. You should grow a pair.

Saying there was a gun inside of the school without knowing for sure is something you should definitely not do... In today's society such things are definitely not taken lightly. My step son just did start school in Delmar middle today ... Smh

Dear Readers,

Given what Joe has reported, I assume the situation occurred outside the school.

When LE advises a school to 'shelter in place', schools are required to comply. When that occurs, it can be quite stressful for parents who want their children, but it is the only way to insure that the element causing the concern outside the school does not get inside and cause further concern.

This has been the protocol for many years. Obviously, school security plans are not shared with the public, lest unsavory elements gather that knowledge and use it for nefarious purposes. LE then advises the school when it is safe to resume normal operations.

From direct experience with multiple situations such as these, schools are just as stressed as parents are because they are not given information either (other than to shelter in place). Further, school staff have been instructed to not open the doors of the school and let anyone in to maintain security. Certainly they recognize parents, and certainly they want children to remain safe, however this is the directive they work under from LE/Central Office, and they are not permitted to do otherwise. While I am sure this is not helpful to a concerned and worried parent, I would urge readers to think about the larger picture in these types of situations.

Regards,

Paladin

If there was a person with a gun Get Out.

It was a suspicious person riding around town with a gun supposedly.

There was no gun inside the school. That is just ridiculous to say. Everyone is concerned about their children in school, but this is the world we live in. Get used to it and stop acting so dramatic every time there is a heightened alert. I get so tired of hearing..."they ain't keeping mah baby. Aint nobody gonna stop me from getting mah baby". Yes, they will stop you. And you might even go to jail over it. Get real people.

Paladan..... Why is it the schools can falsely imprison my child and deny me my child? Is the government a better safer alternative to me the parent? Are the teachers and staff so stupid they don't know the parents from a dealer running around playing here piggy piggy? Sick of your know it all attitude. Please tell me all mighy all his they can do this legally? If this happens with me and my child then I guarantee a second situation with a more credible threat. And I am afforded this right. Tell me I'm not. Tell me why you dip stick teachers and BOE trump my Rights! Tool!

Ok 11:40, who are YOU to endanger MY child by arriving at the school and potentially adding a wrench to an already difficult situation? You are going to ask the front desk to open the door to let you in when there is possible threat outside the school waiting to get in? Tell me what YOU are going to do if the bad guy is just waiting for a door to crack to get inside? Do YOU want to be the cause of that? And if there is a shooter inside the school, what do you want the office to do, call your child out of class and send him down a hallway by himself so his drama queen mom can have him? Which...by the way, also puts MY child at risk. If you put MY child at risk because you want to act foolish then there will be a third situation with a credible threat. You just sound stupid.
